My daughter LOVES helping me in the kitchen, and I know how much fun little activities like this can be! 🥹 Perfect for family nights, holiday gatherings, or just making some sweet memories with your kiddos! 🥰

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about why celebrations mean so much to me. 🤍

And I think a lot of it comes from knowing what it’s like to wish you had just one more.

One more birthday. One more holiday. One more family gathering. One more reason to get everyone together.

I’ve lost a lot of people I’ve loved. Including three cousins who never even got the chance to turn 30. Three people who deserved so many more birthdays, so many more milestones, and so much more life.

And losing people you love changes the way you look at things.

It makes you realize that growing older is a privilege. That another birthday is something to be thankful for. That the little moments we sometimes take for granted are the very things we’d give anything to experience again.

Some of my favorite moments in life are the simplest ones. Being surrounded by family. Laughing so hard my cheeks hurt. Making memories we don’t even realize we’ll treasure someday.

I think that’s why I love celebrating people so much.

Because life is hard. People fight battles we know nothing about. They overcome things they never thought they’d survive. And sometimes just making it through another year is an accomplishment worth celebrating.

When I started Mae & Kay Sweets, I knew I loved being creative. I knew I loved making tasty treats for people. But I don’t think I fully realized just how much meaning there would be behind the things I create.

Even the name holds a special place in my heart. Mae is my middle name, and Kay is my daughter’s middle name, passed down from my granny, who I miss more than anything.

It’s never really been about making treats just because they’re pretty.

It’s about what they represent.

Birthdays. Gatherings. Milestones. Recovery. Love. Another year together.

Every order I make is for someone who means something to somebody. Someone who is loved. Someone who has a story. Someone worth celebrating.

More than anything, I love seeing people come together to celebrate the people they love. I love the thought of someone feeling special, appreciated, and reminded of just how much they mean to the people around them.

And if something I’ve created can help make that moment a little sweeter, that means the world to me.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not really about the cake. It’s about the people gathered around it. 🫶🏻🫶🏻
