Not your average business post!
Life can be really hard in seasons. This past 10 months has been no joke for our family. As many of you know my husband had a medical emergency back in September 2025. He was in ICU for a month. I saw him almost die twice. Then he was in a LTAC for three months. I heard doctors say multiple times they didn't know how much longer he had. But he fought and had hundreds if not thousands of people praying for him. Countless people were blessing and supporting our family. He got home in January and was home mostly with two short stays in the hospital. But home nonetheless. This past weekend I had to take him to the ER again. Thankfully and by God's grace he is doing ok and things are getting resolved and improving. It's been hard. It's taught me a lot! It's put me in places and positions I didn't want to be in but found myself stepping out of my comfort zone and advocating and asserting myself like I never have in my life. I surprised myself A LOT! We are capable of so much more than we can imagine.
Through these months I've had to navigate keeping a business going, advocating and caregiving for my husband and keeping my kids cared for and supported. With the help of many we made it!
Many of you have been more than customers, but true friends! Thank you.
I feel lead to keep going with this crazy coffee business. It's hard but I love it and don't feel like I should step away, even though a logical perspective would say you need to let it go.
I have hope for the future, though I'll need to think creatively and outside of the box.
This really isn't just a job, career or business. I truly see it as a calling and part of my purpose.
Whether this is how we make our living or not, I will always be creating spaces and time to invite people in, have a bit of joy and comfort in delicious drinks and most importantly having a place where people are seen and heard and appreciated. 5 minutes a day can truly change someone's perspective and the course of their day. A delicious drink can truly inspire people and bring them pleasure which fires all sorts of good things in your body. Even if the drink has a lot of sugar or calories!😜
I am planning on bringing two workers to my business this Fall and plan on being open in the neighborhood and serve local schools, while also attending fun events.
Not only did my husband lose part of his intestines, but he also lost his lower right leg and part of his left foot.
So life will look different for him, me and our family. If you are one to pray, we would appreciate all the prayers in navigating this transition season of life. Thinking of creative jobs my husband can do, and wisdom for me as I work and be a mom and wife. We have four kids BTW!
I want to share this with all you guys because Sister Friends Coffee Bar is a local small business, woman owned, family owned. It depends on people in this community to survive. And crazily enough it has survived for two and a half years now.
We use HIGH quality beans and natural ingredients because I take major pride in making amazing drinks and only put drinks on the menu that I can say "I love!"
Please keep an eye out this Fall as we will be out and about more and every drink sold makes a huge difference.
If you don't taste the difference or experience a different kind of coffee shop then please let me know, because my goal is 110% satisfaction.
Blessings to every person who has like and followed us. It's such an act of kindness that I don't take for granted!
If you have read this far, come see us this Saturday at the Parade (we will be by the water tower) say "I read your long post" and I will give you 1.00 off your drink!!
Thanks friends!
