We ate an early dinner at Tavern on Main in Wakefield, RI, on August 31, 2024. We arrived around 4:30 PM. Their website, www.tavernrestaurantsri.com , touts it as "an eclectic yet approachable menu, wine and beverage list delivered with warm, smart and focused service." The staff was indeed friendly and my mind cannot recall the name of our server, but he was friendly and pleasant. I ordered the House-Made Meatloaf which is made with a dijon demi-glace that came with gouda hash browns and baked cauliflower. Ernie ordered the crab cake sandwich which was served with slaw and a Cajun remoulade.

The meatloaf served was a sizeable slice, a bit dry on the edges. The gouda hash browns were delicious but there was only about a tablespoon-sized quenelle and the cauliflower was delicious as well. Ernie's said his crab cake sandwich was flavorful, and I assume it was because he ate the entire thing.

Their website does indicate that they have happy hour half-priced appetizers available daily 4PM to 6PM and 9PM to close as well as daily specials. I've provided screenshots of the menu as well as the happy hour 1/2 price apps and the daily specials. The restaurant is closed on Mondays. The menu is reasonable priced.

Definitely a place to visit if you're in South County. Tavern on Main is located at 195 Main Street, Wakefield, RI. Tel 401-472-9240.

Celeste Restaurant review.....

This afternoon we drove down to South County and went to Celeste Restaurant. This restaurant is part of the Newport Restaurant Group and we had a gift card that was burning a hole in our pocket (thanks Brittany, Karissa and Sarah). This restaurant was formerly Trio and is located on 15 Kingstown Road in Narragansett.

They are advertised as a coastal European restaurant. The atmosphere was light and airy and we were seated in a room adjoining the main dining room. It had sunroom vibes. It's webpage touts "celebrating the bounty of the Atlantic, the menu highlights simply prepared seafood dishes as well as coastal European cuisine inspired dishes, steeped in the flavors of coastal Italy, France, and Spain." All the food is prepared fresh in-house as per our waiter, Aiden.

The service was impeccable. We started with filtered water with pressed lemon. Ernie had Twenty Rows cabernet sauvignon and I just had the water which in opinion was very good and those of you who know me know that I am picky about the water I drink.

For starters, we shared the shrimp sofrito which had a little bite to it but was delicious. There was more than enough shrimp to share between the 2 of us. For our entree, I ordered the Blackbird Farms burger which was cooked to perfection. I opted to forgo the garlic aioli and chose to have the caramelized onions on the side just because I am not a fan of onions. Ernie entre was the prosciutto bocadillo. Both of our entrees were flavorful and enjoyable, and we each took 1/2 of our meals home.

For dessert, we shared the bittersweet chocolate tart. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of this. This dessert was mouthwatering, and we enjoyed it very much.

If you are in the Narragansett area or want to take a drive, you should stop in. You won't be disappointed.

This morning we went to Leon's Cafe & Catering in Barrington for breakfast. They serve breakfast/brunch, sandwiches and entre salads, leonscafecatering.com/menus/ . We've been there previously and enjoy the quaint, cozy atmosphere. The restaurant is small, maybe 10 tables and bar seating, but the food is worth the drive.

I ordered the raisin bread french toast with fuji apple compote and Ernie had the sausage gravy and biscuits with eggs over easy. The french toast was delicious and the apples provided sweetness without the maple syrup. I've ordered the biscuits and gravy before and although very good, there was just too much for me to eat.

Leon's has a small kitchen, so the food does take a bit to come out. You can tell the chef likes what he does as it shows in the food. When you eat at Leon's, you aren't getting the $2.99 special. All in all, a restaurant we will visit again in the future.

So, if you're in the area or want to make the drive to Barrington, you won't be disappointed.

Dinner after the home show. Review to follow.

We showed up just after 5:30PM. The place wasn't too busy. We sat immediately and were asked beforehand if we needed gluten-free menus. Our waitress Alexa helped us within a few minutes. The restaurant wasn't that busy when we first got there, but several people were seated while we dined. There were also many take-out orders as well.

I ordered a margherita and Ernie got an old fashioned. For dinner, my choice was the classic cheeseburger. Unfortunately, they were out of swiss cheese and the other options were American or cheddar. Cheddar it was with a side of onion strings. Ernie ordered the shrimp risotto. The meals arrived within a short time.

According to their web site, www.110Grill.com , it's an "upscale-casual atmosphere" and I think that serves it well. For such a large space, it was quiet enough that we could have a normal conversation. Prices reasonable, all below $30 with the exception of the steaks. They also have a very nice dessert menu which I unfortunately didn't partake in. Maybe another day.....

This restaurant has many locations throughout CT, MA, NH, NY and only one in RI - in Providence. It is essentially behind the Convention Center.

www.110grill.com/rhode-island-menu - is the menu for the Providence location.

Overall, a good choice if you're downtown and need a place to eat.

1st official review is of the Brazen Hen, located at 4 Canal Street in Westerly. We dined on Saturday, March 16, 2024. If I'm not mistaken, it said total capacity not to exceed 105 persons. Upon entering, we were seated within a few minutes. It's listed as an upscale Irish pub on its web page, www.thebrazenhen.com . I would say it was casually upscale but all in all it was very nice. A large bar to the right and plenty of seating to the left of the bar. A couple walls of exposed brick and a tin ceiling gave off casual vibes. The day we dined, the dining area was about 1/4 full and the bar was almost at capacity. Only 1 waitress was working the day we visited. "The menus offer traditional New England fare from fish sandwiches and chowder to classic Irish fare like the Guinness French Onion Soup and Bangers and Mash." (taken directly from their web page) Because it was the day before St. Patrick's Day, Ernie ordered the corned beef plate with braised cabbage, carrots, boiled red potatoes, house-made soda bread and house-made mustard. I ordered the tomato bisque and in honor of National Corn Dog Day, the mini corn dogs. The meals actually came out before the drinks and the waitress humbly apologized and didn't charge us for the beer Ernie ordered. I, of course, ordered a margherita. The bar stayed relatively full while we were there and patrons filed in and out of the dining room during our visit. Our total bill was just less than $50 (without tip).

All in all, a good dining experience and would recommend this restaurant if you're in the area.

This page is dedicated to my honest review of the restaurants my husband and I frequent. I chose the name in honor of my late Aunt Blanche and Uncle Rusty who never ate at home and my brother, Paul, for comparing us to them. The opinions expressed are my own and do not reflect any bias/connection to the restaurants reviewed. All photos are mine unless otherwise specified.
