A famous pizza restaurant in Pueblo is now a local historical landmark! Pueblo City Councilmembers gave Ianne's Pizzeria the designation during Monday's meeting.

Ianne's Pizzeria has been designated as a Local Historic Landmark at 515 W. Northern Ave. The application for designation noted that it was one of the first restaurants to utilize "take out" and was the first to introduce pizza to Pueblo. The original name of the business was the Bessemer Drive-In and it started in 1945. For years they served the nearby by CF&I Steel Mill workers, the Bessemer neighborhood residents and surrounding Pueblo community. The business has been owned by three generations of the Ianne family since its inception.

Last night the Local Historic Landmark designation was approved 6-1 by Pueblo City Council. Congratulations to Ianne's Pizzeria !

Thank you Pueblo!!! Tonight, City Council approved Ianne’s Historic Landmark designation.

We’ll have more photos and details to share in the coming days, but for tonight we just want to say how grateful we are. This place has been part of Bessemer since 1945, and our family is honored to keep carrying it forward.

Thank you to our amazing employees, our customers, City Council, the Mayor, city staff and everyone who has helped keep Ianne’s going all these years.

This one belongs to Bessemer. It always has and it always will.

The guys were closing up last night and I was winding down, reading the old articles on the wall. I just noticed that the Chieftain photo of my grandpa Nick in 1994 looks almost identical to the picture in the article they did 28 years later. He definitely taught by example… and yelling. Haha

The stories, the memories, the generations of families… that’s what this place has always been about.

This was never just our restaurant — it’s always been part of Bessemer.

After 80 years, Ianne’s is being recognized as a historic landmark.
