Hi Friends ~ It’s been a minute. A winter of deep rest and reflection gave us the opportunity to envision the next chapter of our journey with Akasha. If you know us, you probably know that collectively or separately we are always engaged in creative projects. The initial build out of our cafe took a few years to accomplish and this new iteration took the better part of spring and summer.
During the cafe chapter, many visitors remarked, if somewhat jokingly, that they wanted to move in. And yes, we teased that perhaps the clawfoot tub in the bathroom should be rented during after hours for soaking. Our intimate tea ceremonies held such special significance for us here and we wanted to continue to make the space accessible for others to make some memories here as well.
So with that we would like to introduce the Akasha studio apartment! Especially suited to tea drinkers (yes it’s stocked with our favorite teas from all over the world) the space is a reflection of the serene, welcoming environment we cultivated in our cafe - only now you are responsible for concocting your elixir!
This space would not have been possible to accomplish without the support and efforts of so many. We hope it will be loved as we love it!

In late 2019 we hatched a plan with another good friend of ours to transform the ground floor of this 1800’s carriage house into a small wellness-centered cafe and retail shop.  We had to strip the space to the studs, or what remained of them, and begin putting the pieces back together. Months into the build out, the world began to quiet. External obligations fell away and we were able to give our full attention to the undertaking - one dirty project after another until it was time to unveil the transformation.
Since then we’ve hosted private tastings, parties, musicians and intimate gatherings and slung one of a kind elixirs, teas, cold pressed juices and nutritious treats made with the highest quality seasonal ingredients. Most importantly, we’ve forged many beautiful connections with locals and visitors alike. These things kept us ever centered in the present.
The past few years have offered many opportunities for growth, collectively and personally, and we feel gratitude for the deepening of experience and perspective. As we've had time to reflect and ground ourselves in the operational realities of our brick and mortar, we have ultimately come to the decision to close our shop and cafe. That we are situated in a rural, largely seasonal community faced with ever increasing costs is just not sustainable for our current model.
We’d like to acknowledge all of you who supported us and helped make Akasha the welcoming, magical space that it is. And so, we invite you to visit us one more time to help close out this chapter.
This SATURDAY, May 14th, 11~4 our remaining shop items (herbal remedies, superfoods, teas, body products, crystals, gifts and the like) will be on deep discount as well as some apothecary, cafe and retail supplies and maybe a few other surprises.
As this iteration concludes, a new chapter is currently being written and we hope you’ll stick around to hear more about what’s to come next...

For many of us, change is challenging; it can even be scary as it involves stepping into the unknown. But it doesn't have to be. In fact, it can be liberating, exciting, and open the doors to possibility. By opening ourselves up to the unknown, embracing it, and seeing it as an opportunity for growth, we step into the space of infinite possibilities - this is Akasha.

Thank you all for your patience. More than ever we hear the resounding need for community spaces and healthy offerings. Collective years of education, research, dedication and experience have informed the choices behind how we line our shelves and the ingredients that make their way into our menu offerings. Seeking the highest quality products and forging relationships with makers that align with our values of conscious consumption is important to us as individuals and thus is at the core of everything we do at Akasha.

All that to say, we are pleased to announce extended hours starting this week! Our Putney storefront will now be open: WEDNESDAY - SATURDAY from 11AM - 5PM

Some highlights to note:
+ We are working towards pre-order options available through our website that will allow for take-out ordering of our in house prepared cold pressed juices, superfood lattes, small bites and more in addition to our apothecary offerings
+ Our mushroom infused cold brewed coffee will be making it’s way into bottles for grab & go ease
+ A new soon to be released offering - the "Juice Reset" (commonly known as a juice cleanse). With your help, we will create a tailored made selection of cold pressed juices to support your unique individual needs and goals.
+ Our grab & go fridge will continue to highlight our house made rotating cold pressed juices, shots, treats, some truly exquisite kombucha’s, herbal sodas and other locally made plant based offerings. We continually source offerings that aren’t commonly found in other local spots.
+ Did we mention the return of our unique functional juices? Vermont knows produce and we love our farmers! And to top it off, we will be breaking in our brand new juicer this week!

Friends ~
It’s been nearly a year since we opened our doors to you. We can hardly believe it! We have so enjoyed connecting on a deeper level with so many of you and witnessing the relationships that have been forged in this space. You all have taught us so much.
In reaching this landmark, we would like to honor our very small but mighty team with a brief rest to close out summer. This repose will give us the space to nurture some expansive possibilities that have presented themselves not to mention the gift of time to spend with family and friends.
Our physical shop and cafe will be closed for the last two weekends of August starting tomorrow. Our online shop remains open and we will continue to offer pickup for our local customers.
We will miss seeing you in person for the next couple of weeks and we thank you for your understanding that rest is valuable and necessary! Please reach out to us should you need anything.
