My friends,
There is no easy way to say this... and I have been putting it off for far too long..
For everything there is a season and a time for every purpose. Everything that is born must someday come to an end and now after five wonderful years of serving this community, Caffe Adamo will close it's doors for the last time December 31, 2011.
Closing Adamo is the last thing that I want to do, but Adamo's season has come to an end. Adamo was a brilliant dream that took me over a decade to bring to reality. You all became a part of this wondrous adventure and helped to carry it thus far. This was not an easy decision to make but one that had to be made... and this has weighed heavy on my heart and mind for many months and I will continue to question for some time to come.
The long and the short of it is that our lease came up for renewal this year and we were not able to come to terms with the landlord for a rate and duration that would have allowed us to pay down the debts of the business and thrive. In these difficult economic times it has been a struggle to keep the doors open and I have had to borrow extensively to do so. I have come to the full realization that I can not continue borrowing to keep this dream alive in its current location nor do I have the ability to obtain financing to relocate to a new space.
Adamo was my dream and all of you became a part of this dream.. a dream that I wish would last forever. I will not make any promises for the future but I do hope to someday open another coffee shop, espresso catering venture, and or roasting operation but chances are that these will not be happening any time soon.. and maybe never. Just know that in the end I have achieved everything with Adamo that I set out to accomplish except for the financial end. We created a wonderful community, we built a home away from home for many, we built friendships that will last long after the doors have closed, love has grown here, several marriages have been sparked from relationships kindled within our doors, and you have consistently shown your love and devotion by voting us one of the top coffee shops in the state year after year! My reward from all of this is not financial but the friendship and memories that have been created in this wondrous place known as Adamo.
This adventure all started with a word - Adamo: to fall in love with. I fell in love with Adamo and Adamo is all of you! I will miss your companionship, I will miss the laughs, I will miss hearing about your lives, and I will miss seeing all of you every day. I ask for your continued support, encouragement, love and prayers over the months and years to come. Over the following weeks please come in and visit as often as you can and share your memories of Adamo. I will miss you all.
What a long wonderful trip it's been.
THANK YOU!
