Patty Burns was born and raised in the Philippines and relocated to San Francisco, CA in 2006 where she landed her first job as a “bar back” at the historic 7 Mile House in SF bay area. It was not very long before she moved up as a bartender, eventually being a manager, running the bar program for almost 10 years. Around 2010, Patty was introduced to the world of craft bartending, a different approach to cocktail building using freshly squeezed juices, fruits, improved techniques and balanced ratios. Her speed and efficiency comes from many years of experience working at busy bars and restaurants, as well as private events & pop ups.

Her husband, Travis Burns, grew up in Randolph and together, during the pandemic, they started Kuya’s - A Filipino-American restaurant that served Southeast Asian fusion/cuisine, highlighting local Vermont ingredients. During Patty’s time at Kuya’s, she won Barr Hill’s first ever Bee’s Knees Competition held in 2023. Her cocktail was inspired by her roots to the Philippines and her new ties to Vermont. She won People’s Choice twice and took the title for the best Bee’s Knees rendition.

Patty noticed that after Covid, people’s drinking habits had changed quite a bit and more and more people are asking for non-alcoholic drinks when dining out. As a person who goes out of her way to make her guests happy, she began mimicking her specialty cocktails without the use of alcohol, but still putting the same effort and technique to create the drink. Her guests were pleased.

Now that she’s had years of bartending experience, Patty is ready to teach the skills to home/aspiring bartenders and drink enthusiasts to help improve their craft. That is 16 years of experience rolled into a 1.5 hour class and will include history, techniques, recipes, tasting samples and light snacks.

Since closing Kuya’s …
Travis has been helping out in the kitchen at and creating cocktails behind the bar at . We all know his food is delicious - his cocktails are also exceptional!! He’s bartending Wed, Fri and Saturday 5-close, make sure you stop by if you’re around Waterbury.

I am enjoying my new home & crew at (M,T,W) and very honored to join the “Outstanding Bar” James Beard finalist team (F, Sat, Sun) at in Montpelier.

Everything happens for a reason, that we know. Plans to re-open will be in the future… We are trusting this process fully and embracing all that comes our way.

To all of you who say Hi and express your love for Kuya’s, Thank You from the bottom of our hearts! We share that love with you.

Last call for Kuyas!!

It has been a wonderful journey and we Thank all of you for your support!

Starting January 2, 2024, One Main Tap & Grill will re-open with new Head Chef, Jack Woolfrey. Jack is a huge part of opening Kuya’s at One Main and has been working with us since the sandwich shop. He’s was a huge help in our transition from the sandwich shop to a full restaurant and we want to give him the same support back!

Jack has experience in French-American cooking and has once owned his restaurant as well - with his wife, where they served Latin-American cuisine. He is an expert in quality and a great leader in the kitchen. We are excited for Randolph to have his cooking!

One Main Tap & Grill’s new menu will feature snacks, salads, smash burgers & sandwiches, tacos and rotating special. Their full menu will be posted soon! Please follow their Instagram and One Main Tap & Grill on Facebook for updates, moving forward.

It has been our absolute pleasure feeding all of you and serving our town!
