Thank you for the Town of Herndon Government and Mayor Keven for featuring our teas at such an important event.
This morning, Herndon went international.
I had the pleasure of welcoming a delegation of 25 officials from Gangwon Province in South Korea to Town Hall. It was a great opportunity to share how we approach local government, from budgeting and economic development to how we work with our County and regional partners.
One of the most meaningful parts of the conversation was around engagement. How we communicate with residents and businesses, how we listen, and how that input directly shapes decisions like our budget priorities. Different places, different systems, but a shared understanding that good government starts with the people you serve.
We also exchanged a few gifts. We shared custom blended teas from Elden Street Tea Shop, Herndon WinterMarkt mugs (representing Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce and Town), and Herndon slate coasters. In return, you may notice a couple new plush mascots from Gangwon Province if you stop by the Mayor’s office.
Moments like this are a reminder that while our communities may be miles apart, the core challenges and opportunities of local leadership are often very similar.
