Time to take a second and breathe. Today, April 11th, 2025, we will be taking a small breather and finish all remaining mix to have the last of the ice cream available.

WE WILL BE OPEN TODAY (4/11/2025 FROM 1-5 PM) FOR PEOPLE TO PICK UP QUART ORDERS AND MY USUAL COFFEE FOLKS. PLEASE DO NOT COME TO GET ICE CREAM SCOOPED TODAY AS YOU WILL BE TURNED AWAY.

We need people with quart orders that were verified (not you sent me an email or left something on the phone message) to pick up your products or contact me so that we can arrange for you to get your product. If I don't hear from you, or you don't stop by today, I WILL RESELL YOUR QUARTS.

Our final day has moved up significantly, as the response and panic to get ice cream has created a much sooner than anticipated shortage. The final day that we will open our doors is April 12th, 2025 from 5 -10 pm.

Follow up post: All is good with the family. Katherine, Kyle and Ivy will still be around here. Katherine just started a brokerage, Kyle is still working on his welding certifications, and Ivy is still in college. This is the realization of a dream to move out west while still young enough to enjoy it, and I am pioneering for the family. As a former military family, we sometimes do things differently and independently to reach a goal.

The Kilted Creamery will be closing in New Kent on or before April 19, 2025. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their outstanding support of our small business and positive feedback in the community. During these last few days, we will be finishing off all of our consumable assets and near the end, we will be having specials to finish what remaining ice cream we have. We have received our last dairy delivery today.

I, David, will be moving with the business to Wyoming to reopen in Spring of 2026, as well as take a break and have some medical procedures and recovery time. We would like the thank the Baker family for taking a chance with an unestablished business and allowing us to flourish in their space. We also want to thank all of you for the birthdays, special events, after practices, daily coffee times, and your friendship throughout these 2 ½ years.

This is a entire Commonwealth of Virginia issue, not just my shop. Please share it around and actively participate. It will only take a few minutes and it can have the greatest impact for may small businesses across the state.

I make my own ice cream and have been established for about 3 years. I wanted to do “adult” ice cream, but found out early on that the VA ABC is the only legitimate way to do things. We applied for a confectionary permit and were denied since we don’t do cakes or candies as is listed per code.

This is not a “My Shop” issue, but one that affects all independent and chain shops across Virginia. You may see that some places already offer a product like this, but they are using another license to achieve this goal like a restaurant mixed-drink permit or some other category. They say that a shop like mine does not offer food, so we have no category.

So, I went to my legislator (District 71, Amanda Batten) and wrote changes to the law to have a category for ice cream shops, or change the language that would include ice cream shops in the confectionary category.

We presented last year and were shot down by some partisan individuals that did not like who presented the bill (the other party). I am taking another shot this Tuesday January 21st, and am looking for support from anyone in Virginia.

We are looking for an email campaign to the members of the ABC/Gaming committee to say that you support HB 2342. Notice that I have not listed the party of these individuals, as that is not important. This is a non-partisan issue that should be handled as such.

Dear Del. (whatever their name is),

I know that you are considering HB 2342, and that last time it was presented, it was shut down. As an adult that enjoys ice cream, I do not believe that alcohol in ice cream presents the problems or issues that you denied acceptance to HB 1050 last year. Cutting off small businesses from a portion of the market that is already established nationwide is a disservice to our Virginia small businesses and myself as a patron. We as customers have been asking about this product line, and are told that they legally cannot serve it to us. It is time the Commonwealth steps up and modernizes as trends change.

Sincerely,
The Best Customers and Friends in the World

Share with everyone and flood some email inboxes. Focus on the opportunity, the economic development, and the enjoyment, not the partisan politics. If you are in another district, send something to your Delegate. Share with anyone in Virginia.

Spirit Night!!! We will have some of our upcoming thespians for the performance of “The Outsiders” here, and we are showing our support for them.

Many times, programs like these are overlooked for funding and need support from everyone in the community. Who knows where some of these performers will end up later in life.

6-8 pm tonight at the Kilted Creamery.
