“No day shall erase you from the memory of time.” -Virgil
Gesture is a 2,977 piece art installation that my sister-law, Manju Shandler, created as a memorial to those lost on September 11th. Each painting represents a life lost. Installed, it’s immense size reflects the magnitude of loss. It’s beautiful and heartbreaking simultaneously. The emotions it evokes change as you take it all…it’s just stunning.
GESTURE is on exhibit at the Pelham Art Center through Saturday, September 18th. The Pelham Art Center gallery is free and open to the public. Gallery Hours: Monday-Friday 10AM-5PM, Saturday 10AM-4PM.
