Last time Cinco de Mayo was on a Tuesday was in 2020, the COVID year...we were only allowed to do curbside take out.

It was actually such an amazing day...the whole street was full of cars waiting for our food. We had to stop taking orders at 6pm due to having way too many orders. Every family member showed up to make more salsa, prep more meat, and smash beans. Mr. Chavez made a record amount of orders while Jazzy and Kris peeled a sea of shrimp. Verenice organized orders and responded to Facebook orders, Maria passed out orders while looking for the correct cars. Cece/C-Rex/Tacosaurus made beer-aritas with Mike at Square State Brewing then handed out teacher appreciation meal orders to Eastside teachers. That day was bonkers and so awesome at the same time.

We got to see so many people that day after not being able to see that many people in the same area due to Covid times. We worked as a family to be there for our community, taco after taco! We were grateful to receive so much appreciation for our food and customers back then and we are extremely grateful to still be able to provide our food from our family business to this day❤️ This is what that day and week looked like.

Happy National Burrito Day! What is your favorite Casa Chavez burrito?

Fun fact: Burrito in English translates to "little donkey", probably because the burrito can carry so many goodies🫏🌯

This is our Burrito Gigante (Giant Little Donkey) because we add the rice and beans inside for a bigger bite💪
