Karaoke happy hour at the hottest spot for nightlife in town right now!🍸🍸🍸 For real though-its a weird time to be a DJ so I’m making the best of it. To all my wedding clients who had to postpone their celebrations, my heart goes out to you. We’ll make your weddings double fun when they finally do happen! What a beaut!!! Last night’s office was the stunning for what was surely one of the most unique and lovely weddings I’ve had the pleasure of working. From an officiant-less ceremony where they walked each other down the aisle to “Just Like Heaven” by The Cure, to a strong dance-floor finish with “Dancing on My Own” by Robyn, the day was filled with sunshine, beautiful fall colors, lots of hope and love, and of course, great music. Congrats to Tom & Lauren on an amazing day!! @ WAYSIDE cider

Another beautiful wedding at last weekend! Chloe and Dan have a LOT of memorable moments that will forever be seared into our collective brains but I’d say the torrential downpour that produced about 5 inches of standing water in the tent probably wins the night. The staff worked their butts off, though, and despite some soggy hair and clothes, folks literally kicked off their shoes and turned it OUT on the dance floor! The dance party that ensued party was *actually* epic (hate the overuse of that word but it’s so accurate here), and we all had the best time in spite of Mother Nature’s temper tantrum. Another great Get Down Upstate wedding for the books!

I DJ’ed two weddings this weekend back to back...that used to be super common for me but since having a baby 2 seasons ago I just don’t have the stamina anymore! But I have to say, both weddings were fu***ng spectacular. I am SO lucky that I have a job I love. Being a wedding DJ is often and simultaneously weird, delicious, stressful, hilarious, rowdy, silly, bizarre and beautiful. From ceremony processionals to first dances and last songs, my work day runs a pretty broad gamut of complex emotions, evoking an array of musical moods. I’m never on autopilot. Spinning vinyl keeps me on my toes and super engaged with my audience. I basically just get to make live mix tapes for cool people on the best day of their lives. Anyway here’s a selfie I took on the couch at this afternoon while I waited for guests to arrive to the cocktail hour. I sent it to my partner to show my kid before bed to say “mama loves you. Sorry she looks so dorky and tired in this pic. It’s been a long but fulfilling weekend” 🖤.

“Can we bring you our first dance on 45?” is a question I get asked more often than not, and it’s always music to my ears 🖤 Last night’s office was a tucked away lovely little gem called the in the Catskills, and it was breathtaking. Music is always important to my clients but in this case that held particularly true. From their first dance by Tom Waits (pictures here on 45) to the last rowdy song of the night from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack (yes, THAT song lol), the small but energetic dance floor was on fire all night. I love you ! If I had to be at an outdoor wedding on this sweltering day anywhere in the valley I’m SO glad that it got to be here. The trade off for the unbearable heat is how stunning the grounds are in full bloom in the middle of July (floral genius strikes again with this disco ball/wreath mashup!) Worth it 100%. It also doesn’t hurt that these folx know how to put together a cheese plate that’ll break your heart 💔 A gorgeous flowery sultry day for the books! Last night’s office: the gorgeous Locust Grove Estate in Poughkeepsie. Honestly, it was such a gorgeous and mellow day that I was just too lazy to take more than one picture (plus with my homegirl behind the lens I knew I’d get great pics eventually anyway). Got to bust out my 45 for the deadhead bride to groove to on the dance floor ⚡️⚡️ and gave my floral slip mats a spin to match the lovely gardens at the venue. All in all a fun and love-filled evening. Congrats, Jen + Dave!

Tonight’s office: in Stanhope, NJ. I was so busy enjoying the most gorgeous perfect weather of all time to take many pics of the beautiful grounds at this historic site, but I managed to get these gems from today: a candid of the bridal party all lined up and ready to walk the aisle, a portrait of my new gregarious goat-friend who engaged me in some sparkling conversation during cocktail hour, and a nice little snapshot of my number-two blessing me with one of his signature mic-checks. The dance floor was packed all night with a fun, eclectic mix (of people AND music:)) and you couldn’t have asked for a nicer day.
