A New Beginning for Havana 1961 ❤️

After a lot of thinking and praying, we have finally made a decision about how we’re going to reopen Havana 1961.

Instead of opening another restaurant, we’ve decided that our future is going to be a food trailer.

With food costs continuing to rise, electric bills getting more expensive, gas prices, and all the other expenses that come with a full restaurant, we feel this is the best way for us to bring Havana back while keeping our dream alive.

We’re not looking for a huge trailer—just a small one that will allow us to do what we love most: making our famous Cuban sandwiches and serving the community that has supported us from the very beginning.

Our plan is to travel to festivals, community events, and food stands, bringing Havana 1961 to even more people.

We know it may take us a little while to save enough money, but we’re determined to make it happen.

I also want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has donated through our Cash App. Your kindness has reminded us that people truly care and want to see Havana succeed again.

So far, we’ve raised $425.00 toward our food trailer! 🎉

I’ll continue to keep everyone updated as we get closer to our goal and let you know how much we’ve raised along the way.

As a special thank-you, everyone who donates will be invited to sign their name on our food trailer. Every signature will be a reminder that Havana 1961 came back because of the love and support of this amazing community.

This isn’t goodbye—it’s simply the beginning of our next chapter.

We can’t wait to serve you again. ❤️

We just want to take a moment to say THANK YOU to everyone who has donated through our Cash App to help us get a food truck. ❤️

Every single donation, no matter the amount, is helping us get one step closer to making this dream a reality. Your kindness and support mean more to us than words can express.

We also want to do something special for everyone who helps us along this journey. When we finally get our food truck, everyone who donated will have a place to sign their name on it. We want it to be a reminder that this wasn’t just our dream—it became possible because of an amazing community that believed in us.

Thank you for standing by Havana 1961 through the good times and the hard times. We can’t wait to serve you from our new food truck and carry a piece of each of you with us wherever we go.

With love and gratitude,
The Havana 1961 Family 🇨🇺❤️

❤️ A little bit of good news during a difficult time…

Because so many of you encouraged us to share our Cash App, we wanted to let you know that we have officially raised $400 toward the purchase of our future food trailer!

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who has donated. Every single dollar, no matter the amount, brings us one step closer to continuing Havana 1961 in a new way.

These past few weeks have been incredibly hard, but your kindness, support, and belief in us have reminded us that we’re not alone. We can’t thank you enough for standing beside us through all of this.

We’re not giving up. This is just the beginning, and with your help, we’re hoping to bring Havana 1961 back on the road so we can continue serving the amazing community that has become family to us.

Thank you for believing in our dream. ❤️

To our Havana 1961 family,

This is one of the hardest posts I’ve ever had to write.

If we had our choice, we would stay right where we are. We love this restaurant, and we love serving every one of you. Unfortunately, our time in this location is coming to an end.

Ever since the major flood in our basement forced us to close for a month and a half, we have faced one challenge after another. Despite our best efforts, we were never able to fully recover. We kept hoping each month would be the one where things finally turned around, but it just didn’t happen.

Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond beyond our control we are having to close Now .

the past few days, we have been packing, cleaning, and preparing for what comes next. After a lot of thought and many difficult conversations, we have made the heartbreaking decision to close this location.

This breaks my heart more than I can put into words. Havana 1961 has been so much more than a restaurant—it has been a place where we’ve met incredible people who became like family. We will forever be grateful for every meal you shared with us, every kind word, every recommendation, and every bit of support you’ve given us.

This is not goodbye forever.

We are already looking for a new location, so please keep following our page for updates. We fully intend to reopen when we find the right place to continue serving the food we love to make for all of you.

And to everyone who loves our Cuban sandwiches…don’t worry, I’ve got you!

❤️ Once we’re completely moved out, I’ll post a phone number where you can place an order, and we’ll arrange a convenient place to meet so you can still enjoy your favorite Cubans. It’s the least I can do for the people who have supported us through everything.

As heartbreaking as this is, I’m choosing to believe God has another door waiting to open for us. Sometimes the hardest endings lead to better beginnings.

Thank you for believing in us. Thank you for standing by us through the good times and the difficult ones. We love every one of you, and we promise this isn’t the end of Havana 1961—it’s simply the beginning of our next chapter.

❤️ With love and gratitude,

Maria & the Havana 1961 Family

Today I had to make the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make. I had to say goodbye to my sweet girl, Marie.

Marie was 9 years old, and she had serious heart problems that couldn’t be fixed. Even knowing that doesn’t make this any easier. My heart is completely shattered.

I’ve had her since she was a baby. She loved everyone she met, and all she ever wanted was to be close to the people she loved.

Whether it was curling up beside you, going on road trips, or sharing life’s adventures, she was always there. She wasn’t just my dog—she was family, my best friend, and a piece of my heart.

The guilt I’m feeling is overwhelming. I keep asking myself if I could have done more, even though I know her heart was failing. Right now, I feel like I failed her, and that’s a feeling I can’t seem to escape.

I already miss her so much. The house feels quieter, and my heart feels emptier. It feels like I’ve lost one of the best parts of my life.

Run free, my beautiful Marie. Thank you for every cuddle, every adventure, every wag of your tail, and for loving me unconditionally. I hope you knew just how deeply you were loved.

Until we meet again, my sweet girl. You will always be in my heart. ❤️🐾.

Bear with me I don’t know when I will be over this .. I love you all thank you for being my friend ..

We don’t do politics at Havana 1961.

We don’t care who you voted for, what flag you fly, what side you’re on, or what news channel you watch.

If you walk through our doors with kindness, respect, and love for good Cuban food, you’re welcome here.

But what we will call out is ugly.

Trying to turn a family restaurant’s fundraiser into a political insult says more about the person typing it than it does about us. We’re a family trying to keep our dream alive, keep our staff working, and keep serving the community that has stood beside us.

Havana 1961 is not a political page. It’s a family, a kitchen, a dream, and a whole lot of love wrapped in Cuban bread.

So to everyone supporting us, sharing our posts, praying for us, buying a meal, donating, or simply sending kind words — thank you.

To the ugly comments? We’ll hand you a hug, a Cuban sandwich, and hope your day gets better.

❤️ Havana 1961 Family, We Need Your Help ❤️

First, we want to say thank you to everyone who has reached out with encouragement, kind words, and fundraising ideas. We are truly blessed to have such an amazing community behind us.

After listening to everyone’s suggestions, we have decided to go with Cash App for anyone who would like to help us get one step closer to owning a Havana 1961 Food Truck.

We know times are tough for everyone, so please don’t ever feel obligated. But if you’ve been asking how you can help, this is one way.

Every single dollar helps. Whether it’s $1, $5, $10, or more, every donation brings us one step closer to getting back on the road and continuing to serve the Cuban food you all love.

If you would like to help, our Cash App is:

We truly believe this food truck is the future of Havana 1961, and with your support, we hope to make that dream a reality much sooner.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for believing in us, standing by us, and reminding us that we’re not in this alone. We can’t wait to continue this journey with all of you.

Please feel free to share this post. Every share means the world to us. ❤️🇨🇺🚚
