Eldora Suri Alpacas

Eldora Suri Alpacas Alpaca Farm Tours, Alpaca Clothing and Home Décor including items we make on our Farm with our own Fresh Free Range Chicken eggs and home made jams available.

Eldora Suri Alpacas has been in operation since 2004 when Leanne and Richard bought their first alpacas. Our current location is situated on a beautiful backdrop of 17 acres in the Willamette Valley, Oregon. Leanne and Richard raise the rare and beautiful Suri Alpaca with an eye for sustainable farm to market product operation. Eldora's herd of 30 alpacas produces about 200 lbs of fleece annually.

The alpaca fiber arts studio is a fun and busy place where we produce beautiful products with our alpaca fleeces. A full line of hats, sweaters, scarves, socks, gloves, yarn, craft and home décor items are available. Knitters and Hand Spinners are welcome to come select fleeces, roving, or yarn. Shearing is in May, and babies are born between June and September. Farm tours are welcome by appointment. Come see us!

September 2011: Here is a photo of what our hand painted Suri/Silk blend yarn looks like up close. For those of you who don't know what suri feels like, it's smooth and cool to the touch, very very soft (no itch), and keeps you very warm.

September 2011: Fall is when I get in the mood to hand paint my yarn made from my alpacas' fleeces. Here are some of our 2011 line of colors. Since the dye process is by hand and it is painted on, there is an amazing variety of colors. No two batches come out the same. I name each batch. Shown here are two batches named 'Purple Reign' and 'Deep Blue Sea'. Oh, and peeking beneath the yarn is our newest baby, Que Bella.

Today January 20, 2011 marks the day our first phase of fencing is done! We can let our alpacas out to pasture. This is a 3 acre pasture designed for the moms, babies and visiting females to stay within eyesight of the house. This photo shows some of our pregnant females happily grazing. Watch Eldora's page for photos of the new babies when they start arriving this coming June.

Last Fall when we moved in, we had our pastures mowed because it looked like it hadn't been done for a while and we wanted nice forage to come up in the Spring. The new grass is already coming up nicely already and it's only January! When the cross fencing is done, we'll have four separate pastures like this in addition to several large night safety paddocks.

This is the second building completed at the new farm in Oregon. We will have several shelters like these around the property. This one can shelter about 30 alpacas in a rainstorm.
