We’ve made the decision to remain open tomorrow and donate a portion of sales to local, grassroots organizations helping our immigrant communities stay safe.
We stand in absolute solidarity with those who are striking. We’re giving our staff the choice to take the day off if they’d like, but many have chosen to be here. As small businesses founded on principles of liberation and empathy for all, it’s important for us to provide affordable vegan food and a space for community connection and healing, especially right now.
We’ll be hosting a poster making party (supplies provided) from 11:00-2:00 for those who are planning to attend the protest at Washington Square Park. We’d love for you to come by and make a sign, be with like-minded people and channel your feelings into direct action. There is no obligation to purchase anything.
If you do choose to spend, please spend your dollars with local businesses. Your locally spent dollars stay here in our community and have a much larger reach. Look out for each other, take care of yourselves and don’t forget that the power has always been and will always be in the hands of the people.
A bit about the orgs we’re donating to:
runs the detention defense hotline, offers local families emergency funds for groceries and puts money on commissary accounts of people imprisoned by ICE so they can call home
offers know-your-rights training, helps distribute “No Entry for ICE” signs, and provides resources to local immigrant communities
You can donate directly to both of these local organizations via the links in their Instagram bios.
