Last week, Bella Collina welcomed LPGA Tour professional and San Clemente native Ryann O’Toole back to a course that helped shape her journey in the game. O’Toole was no stranger to Bella Collina growing up, spending time on these fairways as a junior golfer while developing her game. A graduate of San Clemente High School and three-time MVP of the school’s girls’ golf team, she went on to compete at UCLA before joining the LPGA Tour in 2011. Her career includes a victory at the 2021 Trust Golf Women’s Scottish Open, multiple top-10 LPGA finishes, and representing Team USA in the prestigious Solheim Cup.
Joining her on the range was Bella Collina junior golfer Madelyn Quinn, one of the rising young talents in the game and a member of our club. At just 13 years old, Maddie has already won 19 tournaments across the Future Champions Tour, US Kids Tour, and SCJPGA, earned four season-long US Kids Tour championships, and is the three-time reigning Girls Junior Club Champion at Bella Collina. Most recently, she captured the Future Champions Tour Championship while competing in the girls 13–14 division, winning by five strokes. She is currently ranked among the top 100 junior golfers in her class worldwide and will compete this summer in the US Kids World Championship for the fifth consecutive year.
Madelyn’s journey is remarkable both on and off the course. After undergoing four open-heart surgeries in her first 22 months of life, she received a life-saving heart transplant and has continued to thrive ever since. Her determination, resilience, and passion for golf have made her an inspiration to everyone around her.
As part of Ryann’s visit, a special introduction was arranged between her and Maddie, giving one of Bella Collina’s rising young golfers the opportunity to meet and spend time with a player who once stood in her shoes. Seeing Ryann and Maddie together is a reminder of what makes golf so special. Ryann once walked these fairways as a young golfer with big dreams. Today, she serves as an inspiration for the next generation, while Maddie represents the future of the game and the promise of what’s still to come.
