🕯️ Where Memory Keeps Dancing
A Día de los Mu***os Tribute by Latin Rhythm Society
Today, we come together not just to remember,
but to honor, give thanks, and celebrate.
Because even when someone is no longer physically with us,
their presence never truly leaves.
Their love, their influence, and the mark they made on our lives
continue in ways we may not even realize.
We see them in the eyes we inherited,
in the way we smile,
in our expressions, our gestures,
and in the little things we do that remind us of them.
Sometimes, when we look in the mirror,
we see more than our own reflection.
We see pieces of the people who came before us.
Their features, their expressions,
and parts of their stories living on through us.
Our bodies carry memories in ways words cannot explain.
We carry their footsteps, their embrace,
their strength, and the lessons they left behind.
We are living reminders of those who came before us,
and in that way, they are never really gone.
And then there are our companions (guardian angels)
who come into our lives with four paws,
wagging tails, and a love beyond words.
Even though they may no longer be waiting for us at the door,
they leave behind memories in every corner of our homes
and paw prints that never fade from our hearts.
They deserve to be remembered, too,
with a candle, a place on our altar,
and a place in our hearts forever.
Today, we light candles for the memories we hold close,
lay flowers for the lives that touched ours,
and turn to art when words are not enough.
We let music bring back feelings we thought had gone quiet.
We let rhythm reconnect us with our roots.
And through dance, we create a bridge
between where we come from, who we are,
and the generations that will follow.
The world is always changing,
but some things are worth keeping alive.
Our cultures, our languages,
the stories passed down through generations,
and the music that brings us together beyond borders.
At Latin Rhythm Society, we believe
the world is our dance floor.
And as long as we keep moving,
the music will never die.
We dance for those who first inspired us.
We sing for those who taught us to feel.
We create for those who encouraged us to dream.
And we share our culture
so the stories and traditions they passed down
can continue through generations.
Through sorrow, we find grace.
Through loss, we learn to cherish.
Through memories, we create art.
And through art, we give love a way to live forever.
Tonight, we don’t dance to say goodbye.
We dance to say thank you.
For the lives they lived.
For the lessons they taught us.
For the sacrifices they made.
For the love they gave us.
And for everything they left behind
that continues to live within us.
May our flowers always bloom.
May our candles always shine.
May our roots never be forgotten.
And may the music never stop playing.
Because when we remember them, their stories live on through us.
And as long as we keep dancing, their legacy will continue to move through time.
