The Wakefield Inn & Restaurant, nestled in the picturesque Village of Wakefield Corner, is one of 27 historic homes on the United States National Register of Historic Places. The Wakefield Inn & Restaurant, formerly known as the Spiral Staircase Inn and The Elmwood Inn dates back to 1804. The Inn was originally built as a home for Seaman William Frost who wanted to own the largest, tallest (3 stor

ies) and grandest home in Wakefield. In 1890 the home was converted to an Inn where guests, for many years, were transported to the Inn by stage coach. Wakefield Corner was considered the center of town because of the 6 stage coach lines and in 1895 the railroad began providing transportation for the Inn's guests from Wakefield's 5 train stations. The home features an amazing flying spiral staircase, the original stage coach door, a 3 sided fireplace with beehive oven in the dining room, a very large picture window overlooking the picturesque back gardens and a lovely wrap around porch where guests can relax and enjoy a wonderful view of the village. Today, the Inn is operated by Province Lake Golf under the leadership of General Manger Sabin Beckwith. He and his team share a passion for entertaining and the philosophy food and drink are meant to be shared. We arrive to create a dining experience you can't wait to get to and are in no hurry to leave. We reopened the Inn not he 3rd of July and had our first public dinner service July 5th. Currently the Inn is open to guests 7 nights a week and our Restaurant and Speakeasy are open Tuesday-Thursday from 4pm-8pm and Friday and Saturday from 4pm-9pm. We are currently closed for dining on Sunday and Monday for the winter. Check out our new menu under the menu tab listed as Winter menu.

Holiday Hours Update:

We will be open for normal service through Friday evening. Saturday and Sunday we will be serving breakfast and brunch specials from 7am-2pm, we will not be open for dinner service on July 4th. If your are looking for dinner reservations we would love to see yor at The Carriage House Bistro & Tavern at our home campus at Province Lake Golf & Resort. The Carriage House is open 12-8 on July 4th. The Club House at Province Lake Resort is serving $16.99 Lobser Rolls with Cole Slaw and Chips from 12-6 Friday, Saturday and Sunday on the deck overlooking the course and lake.
