We’ll be in Sanford tomorrow at the New England Collegiate All Stars baseball game and home run derby with Gotta Be Frank Gourmet and Stop Drop N’ Roll!

Mainers to Host, Start in Collegiate League’s All-Star Game The first-place Sanford Mainers are planning for a standing-room-only crowd at Goodall Park Sunday when it hosts the New England Collegiate Baseball League’s All-Star Game, featuring a record 10 Mainers players.

The team is hoping for a crowd of 2,000 people, according to Jacob Ouellette, chairman of the board of directors. Goodall Park has a seating capacity of 950, with most of the seats in the grandstand behind home plate.

Roberts Street will be closed for the event.

Parking is available at Sanford City Hall, Main Street Marketplace, the School Street lot (located next to the former Guerrero Maya), and Townhouse Properties. Shuttle Services will be available at each lot sponsored by Webb Law Firm to assist fans.

Both Sanford Mainers players and coaches will be represented.

First baseman Steven Kraus of Binghamton University is one of Sanford’s two starters. He has been hitting .247 with 10 RBI in 27 games. Outfielder Jack Tate, St. John’s University, also earned the start. He is hitting .276 with a .483 slugging percentage. Tate has been one of Sanford’s hottest bats over the past 10 days, where he’s 9-for-22 with eight RBI and four extra base hits.

The following players were selected for a reserve spot: Matt Mahoney (Northeastern, relief pitcher), Albert De La Rosa (Maine, shortstop), Nater Wachter (Connecticut, outfield), Sam Young (Richmond, closing pitcher), Andrew Middleton (Maryland, relief pitcher), Dom Tozzi (Coastal Carolina, catcher), Jake Harring (Salve Regina, second base), and Brian Connolly (Rhode Island, designated hitter).

The Mainers coaching staff, led by Head Coach Nic Lops, was named the staff for the North Division due to the Mainers being in first place. He will be joined with assistants, Jack LeBlond, Kobie Carter, and Colton Lawrence.

Replica All-Star Game jerseys, plus additional event merchandise will be available for purchase.

Fans interested in attending the event are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance through ezEvent, by visiting (http://sanfordmainers.com/asgtickets)sanfordmainers.com/asgtickets (http://sanfordmainers.com/asgtickets). Tickets are $10 for general admission, and fans ages 5 and under are admitted free.

Gates will open at 11 am, and the Home Run Derby, a popular feature that will be streamed on NECBL+, will start at 2:30 pm. The All-Star Game will begin at 5 pm and will be shown on ESPN+. https://sanfordspringvalenews.com/?p=55248

Hi all! A quick note to share that the truck will not be opening at the airport this week. To be frank, we are in a very tight financial spot. Last year we had transmission repairs that not only cost thousands upfront, but caused us to miss nearly a month of revenue, which is a huge amount to miss out on for an ice cream business in Maine. This meant heading into winter with less funds. Spring forward to fronting registration, licensing and permitting costs, inventory, payroll, two more unexpected visits to the mechanic and getting towed, and we do not have the money to continue to float payroll while we wait for business to pick up. The truck bounces back from repairs much quicker than the bank account does. Our hope is that once school is out and summer is in full swing we might do better at the airport. We will fulfill the few private event bookings on the calendar, but are not sure what the future looks like otherwise at this point.

Thank you to everyone who has followed us on social media, stopped by the truck over the last few years, shared posts, written reviews, hired us for your most special days of your lives. And a big thank you most especially to our team who saved us last year and have taken this news so gracefully. Small business ownership is not easy, and in spite of having moments of feeling like a failure, we are still very proud of what we built. It has been an adventure to say the least!

We will update again as soon as we can.
