Look-back on the background for this week's menu: Long before Prairie Star became a restaurant, it was home. This late-1940s photo captures the enlarging of the original 1920s adobe under architect August A. Neuner, who designed the addition in the New Mexico Mission style. Hand-hewn vigas from the Jemez Mountains were set into place, with Tuyuna mesa rising in the distance. The living room taking shape here would one day become Prairie Star’s main dining room when the home was transformed into the restaurant in 1986. As we celebrate our 40th Anniversary, it’s a remarkable reminder that every meal we serve is part of a story that began decades before our first guest arrived.

Celebrating our 40th Anniversary! The menu design features the late 1940s renovation & expansion of the original adobe homestead built in the early 1920s. You'll notice the adobe bricks being made onsite. The home was a private residence until 1986 when purchased by the Pueblo and converted to the Prairie Star Restaurant.
