Mamaa’s Chicken & Dumplings 🍲✨
There is nothing like a warm bowl of comforting, soul-satisfying chicken and dumplings made with love. 😩❤️ This recipe features incredibly tender chicken—whether you love juicy boneless dark meat like chicken thighs or lean chicken breast, use whatever you prefer! We are leveling it up with a classic mix of fresh veggies and a deep, aromatic blend of Herbs of Providence (Herbes de Provence) seasoning to make that broth unforgettable. 🌿✨ And yes—before you even ask—it is absolutely okay to serve it with a side of cornbread! Double the comfort, right? 🥖🔥
Here is a super simple way to recreate this magic at home:
Ingredients
• Chicken: 1.5 lbs boneless chicken thighs or chicken breasts (cooked tender and shredded)
• Veggies: 1 cup carrots (sliced), 1 cup celery (sliced), 1 cup onion (diced)
• Broth: 4 cups low-sodium chicken broth
• Soup: 1 can cream of chicken soup (for that extra rich, creamy base)
• Dumplings: 1 can of refrigerated flaky layers biscuits
• Seasoning: 1 tablespoon Herbs of Providence (Herbes de Provence), garlic powder, black pepper, and salt to taste
Easy Steps
1. Sauté the Veggies: In a large pot, toss in your carrots, onions, and celery with a little butter or oil. Cook until they start to get soft and fragrant.
2. Simmer the Base: Pour in the chicken broth and cream of chicken soup. Whisk it together until creamy, then stir in your Herbs of Providence and other seasonings. Bring it to a simmer.
3. Add the Chicken: Stir in your tender, pre-cooked chicken (thighs or breasts) and let it absorb all those rich herbed flavors on medium heat.
4. Prep the Dumplings: Open your can of biscuits. Don't forget to cut each biscuit into 4s! ✂️
5. Cook 'Em Up: Drop the biscuit pieces gently into the bubbling broth one by one. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for about 15 minutes until the dumplings are plump and cooked through.
6. Serve: Ladle it hot into a bowl, grab yourself a big piece of cornbread, and enjoy!
