Banyan Tree Chocolate is owned and run by Award-Winning Master Chocolatier Morag Reid. Throughout her travels, Morag always loved chocolate, and she developed a taste for unusual flavors. When deciding to open a chocolate shop, she wanted something that remined her of the fine chocolate shops she visited in Europe, and so Banyan Tree Chocolate was born. Morag trained with the renowned Ecole Chocol

at school based in Vancouver, Canada, and graduated with honors. She earned her Master Chocolatier designation in Bowen Island, Canada, and has trained with three of the top 10 chocolatiers in America: Melissa Coppell, Richard Tango-Lowy and Luis Amado. Morag continues to explore new flavors and techniques, blending the traditions of Europe and the newer American style to create classic flavors – using local ingredients and working with local businesses. We use only the finest quality ingredients in our chocolates. The chocolate brands we work with include: Guittard, Cocoa Barry and Valrhona, all of which are less sweet and creamier, highlighting the intricacies of the chocolate flavor. Banyan Tree Chocolate is a member of the Fine Chocolate Industry Association (FCIA).

Today is the last day of business. We will be open until 3 PM today. We don’t have much on the shelves and we may have a limited menu, but please stop in and say hello and goodbye. Or rather not goodbye but au revoir. Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the past 5 1/2 years. It’s been a blast!

For one time, and one time only!!!
I bring you chocolate covered marzipan. Made from scratch using just three ingredients. I made this to cover my (British style) Christmas cake, and had some left over. So… why not? Enrobed on 72% dark chocolate. Sometimes, I wish I had never started doing color; the simple chocolate treat can be beautiful with all that nonsense.

EDIT: Some lucky customer just bought me out of all of these. 😃

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the Banyan Tree Chocolate and café will be closing at the end of the year. Our last day of business will be December 23. The following week we will be selling off all equipment furniture and fixtures. However this It’s not the end of Banyan Tree Chocolate. I hope to continue working with chocolate in some other manner. Stay tuned for details.
