Ever wondered what's up with the shipwreck on Higgins Beach? In August 1897, The Howard W. Middleton ran onto the rocks near the mouth of the Spurwink River during an especially foggy night. A schooner designed to transport coal, rumor has it people traveled for miles to harvest coal the ship lost in the crash.
