Review #3 Neon Sushi in Glenville
Natalie Stegmann
Date night number 3 and what can I say, we love sushi!!! We chose to stay local and try Neon Sushi which is just 10 minutes away in rt. 50 in Glenville.
You remember how this works, we rate 5 categories 1-10 so here we go!
1) Service 9.5
It was a very simple process of ordering online.
You did not have to give your CC information out if you didn’t want. I was able to verify my order with a text code sent to my phone.
In fact, as soon I was done ordering I received a phone call from the hostess telling me we could get two more sushi rolls because they were running a special that night which was not on the online menu. I thought that was very nice of her.
The pick up process was simple as well, she told me 15-20 minutes over the phone and I got there almost 20 minutes on the dot and our food was waiting right there for us.
2) Presentation 8.5
So, Natalie and I are starting to figure out all of the take out Sushi places use the same exact tray lol.
We thought the different colors of the lemon and garnish along with the colors of the different types of fish made it look really nice. An assorted tray of sushi in itself is a work of art.
3) Taste 9.5
Tonight’s menu included the Sushi Boat for two which included 16 pieces sashimi 6 pieces sushi and the Rainbow roll.
We then got each of our own specialty rolls. Natalie got the Alligator roll which was tempura shrimp cucumber, eel, with avocado and eel sauce on top.
I went with the Spider Web roll which was soft shell crab, mango, spicy tuna inside topped with seared tuna and Kimichi sauce.
The two free rolls we got were the spicy crunchy salmon roll and spicy crunchy tuna roll.
I think this menu had the most variety so far. From our very first chance to try raw octopus to the soft shell crab in my specialty roll it was just enough to be a little different.
Everything was fabulous. The sashimi melted like butter in your mouth. It was so fresh and tender.
The specialty rolls reminded Natalie of the carnival biting into fried dough (that was from the tempura).
I honestly don’t know if I’ll ever get another specialty roll other than the Spider Web roll again!
From the crunch of the soft shell crab, to the spice of tuna, to the sweetness of the mango, every bite was like a taste of heaven.
Natalie absolutely devoured her Alligator roll too! We both thought the name was very deserving as the creamy top of avocado made it look like the back of an alligator lol.
4) Cost 9.5
So all of this came out to $70. Once again, not cheap by any means but you certainly got high quality and a lot of bang for your buck!
Remember this is takeout too. We plan on dining out eventually. Hopefully our first sit down at a restaurant will be in May.
5) Overall Satisfaction 9.4
I thought Oishi would set the standard, I was wrong.
Neon Sushi has now set the bar. While all 3 places we have gone to are fabulous, Neon is the best so far.
So, with that being said, where to next? Any suggestions? I think we’ll hit the Schenectady Sushi scene as we’re trying to stay in a geographical order.
