It is with significant emotion that we announce the upcoming closure of Barrio on August 30th. We will also close Fiasco on September 14th to convert the space into Purple Cafe & Wine Bar Stone Way.
Opening Barrio in 2008 was an incredible team effort. The Chef team, our GM, Bar Manager, and all the FOH and kitchen crew were deeply committed to bring something special to Capitol Hill. We opened during a snowstorm, and while it was a rocky beginning, we eventually built the business and created many fun memories. Over the years, our staff has been there for each other and collectively they provided something special to the food and cocktail scene in Seattle. After an amazing 16 years we have so much gratitude for Barrio, and it will be sincerely missed.
Fiasco has taken on its own lighthearted identity over the past few years. BOGO night, silly pizza names, a bottle shop, fun cocktails and an amazing team have all made the restaurant special in the Wallingford/Fremont neighborhood. The dedication of our GMs, Chefs, and staff has been integral in making Fiasco a place to make and share truly amazing memories. To our neighbors and guests, we are sad to leave you all as you know us, but we are thankful we get to bring something new.
Purple has always been the origin of Heavy starting all the way back in 2001. We’ve loved helping make wine more approachable set in an environment where our employees and guests don’t feel intimidated to learn about food and drink. We feel this type of discovery through hospitality is timeless and will do great in Wallingford/Fremont.
We’re excited to continue to provide memorable experiences and hospitality to the greater Seattle community through our Purple and Pablo locations, and Livbud in Wallingford/Fremont. This renewed focus and consolidation will allow us to amplify and leverage all our energy to be the best restaurant group we can be.
Thank you all for your support, positive energy, companionship, and love over the years. We look forward to serving you over the next month (and beyond!) to share in the goodbyes as we move forward.
With deep appreciation and gratitude,
Heavy Restaurant Group
