Hiking up to one of my favorite tea gardens in Taiwan, the source of our Farmer’s Choice Baozhong. The Chen family has always used sustainable methods, but this year they completely forewent applying pesticides at all and the plants still produced one of the best crops we’ve tasted in our 20 years of buying this tea. The garden is rich with biodiversity and soil is healthy. We are very proud to have a relationship with this incredible farming family, and grateful that they keep doing what they do!

Shan Lin Xi is harvesting! The lack of rain means things are a little later than usual, but it looks like we’ll have a good Shan Lin Xi pretty soon. We’re probably looking at releasing this along with Alishan and Baozhong in the next couple weeks. Stay tuned!

My new favorite thing to do at a tea garden is chewing on one of the fresh little buds and comparing the taste of different plants. It makes micro variations in growing climate so much more obvious.

Like, if there’s a lot of other plants around the bush providing shade or if the tea bush is more solitary, absorbing lots of direct sun - the impact of the leaves as you chew them is totally different! Cultivars, elevation, it all becomes so damn tangible when you’re on the mountain chewing on the leaves 😁🍃 So much fun!

Feels good to be up in the mountains again! Spring tea harvest is underway and looking really good 🤩🍵

My friend is going to be making white tea with these feral bushes as an experiment this year. For oolong it will still be a little while, probably early May, before this high elevation garden is ready.

Good news! We discovered a couple more bags of tea from the recent drop. They are available on the site now 🥰

Originally they had sold out the first day! But a small number of bags got shoved to the back of the shelf and evaded being counted in that first inventory.

We didn’t want to send out a whole new newsletter for these few bags of Bug Bitten D**g Ding and Cloudburst Oolong. Our newsletter is the best place to hear about these drops though!

Thank you to everyone who placed an order last Friday! We hope you love the teas as much as we do.
