When it came time to name the mural, we invited our team to weigh in. The winning title, “Feast of the Met,” was submitted by Zoe, our Cellar Master. It’s a name that feels right at home in a space where art, food, and conversation meet.

“You have never just been a restaurant to me, you have been a tradition.”
On February 28, 1986, the eve of his 21st birthday, Don walked into The Metropolitan Grill for the first time. He was visiting from Calgary, staying at the Mayflower Park Hotel, and asked a concierge where to find a great steak. Without hesitation, the answer was The Met.
“That evening remains one of the most memorable dining experiences of my life. The service was impeccable, the steak superb, the potato massive, and the atmosphere unmatched.”
He came back that September. Then four more times over the next three years. Then 19 more times over the following decades. 25 visits in all, and this past February 28th, on the eve of his 61st birthday, he returned to celebrate what he calls our 40th anniversary. Along the way, he remembered the people who made each visit special. Big Sue, Noi, Craig, Miles, Paul, Kimberley, Scott, and Delonna.
“Over 40 years and 25 visits, there has never been a slip, never a sense that something had changed for the worse. That kind of consistency is rare.”

To Don, and every guest who has made The Met part of their story, thank you… we wouldn’t be here without you all. ❤️

As part of our recent Vintage Room remodel, we partnered with local artist Kate Clark (), whose vision and artistry began transforming the space one brushstroke at a time.

The mural came together piece by piece, layered with thoughtful details and familiar faces from the Met family, past and present.
