We’re so lucky to have Ward’s Berry Farm right down the road! Picked up some beautiful local buttercup squash and made our favorite Thai squash custard! 🇹🇭🧡

In 2017, my family moved to Sharon. There were so many times I told myself I was going to stop cooking. Restaurant work is hard. Cooking everything from scratch is harder. The hours are long. There is always prep, cooking, cleaning and then more cleaning. I tried to walk away from it.

But somehow, cooking kept finding its way back to me.

I started inviting people into my house and taught my first cooking class in my kitchen in Sharon. Then I started selling food again on facebook. Then COVID hit, I was cooking every week through COVID thanks for Roxanne's Taqueria sharing your kitchen with me 🙏🏻 parking our food truck Hill CSA it was unreal with all support from local ❤️

My name is Renu. I’m a chef, but my story with Thai food didn’t begin because I dreamed of becoming one.

I was born and raised in Thailand, and I moved to the United States in 2009 for school. Being far away from home, one of the things I missed most (after my mother) was the food. I was always searching for the real Thai flavors I grow up with, the flavors that make I feel like home.

About 12 years ago, when I gave birth to my son, my mother came to stay with us. That was when I really began learning to cook from her.

We cooked together a lot and inviting friends over every week, and we simply donated our food to the Thai temple in Boston. Then something unexpected happened. People started asking “Can we order your mother food?”

So we began cooking from our little home kitchen in Belmont and selling the food through Facebook. Week after week, we sold out.

This October, Boon Choo is turning 2 years old! 🎉
I’ve been thinking a lot about how it all began.

It wasn’t a childhood dream. It wasn’t a business plan. It all started with me, my mother, a little home kitchen, and my love for the flavors of Thailand.

What began as a way to feel closer to home slowly turned into something I never could have imagined.

I will share my story through October to celebrate Boon Choo 2 years 🥳❤️🇹🇭
