It’s finally starting to feel like summer ☀️🔥
Our in-house baker Anna took one look at the oven today and decided it wasn’t worth adding that kind of heat 😂
(And yes — everything we bake is made from scratch right here at Northeast Whitewater!)
So the oven is taking a well-earned break… and you’re getting something even better: Chocolate Peanut Butter No Bake Cookies 🍫🥜❄️
Cold, rich, chocolatey, and peanut buttery perfection — basically made for this kind of weather… and highly recommended alongside an iced latte 😎☕

Nick from The Lakeshore House had a thru-hiker getting ready to hit the 100-Mile Wilderness but craving a Chocolate Raspberry Latte with Oat Milk — and guess who came to mind? Us here at River Roots Café!

We were more than happy to deliver that delicious latte but also share some trail and Moose talk🦌😄
So thrilled to have them stop by today and cheers to local businesses supporting each other and keeping the adventure fueled!

☕ A Little Latte History☕
Lattes date back to the 1500s but weren’t formally named lattes until the 1800–1900s in Italy 🇮🇹. They didnt didn’t gain U.S. popularity until the 1950–80s.

In 1989, David Schomer crafted the first latte heart, and just three years later he perfected the rosette (a skill to say the least)

Okay—so we’re a bit late to the game and still mastering our own latte art, but better latte than never. 😉

Why does the forest suddenly look like Mother Nature went full pumpkin spice? Because as the days get shorter and nights cool off, trees stop making chlorophyll (the green stuff), and the hidden colors finally get their big moment.

• Sugar Maples – oranges & golds (sometimes scarlet!)
• Red Maples – deep reds & maroons, wicked dramatic
• Birch – bright, sunshine yellow
• Oak – deep russet & bronze—like the gold jewelry of the forest
• Conifers (Fir, Spruce, Pine) – the stubborn Mainers of the woods… staying green like it’s Christmas every day
