Greetings everyone. What a leap it was three years ago in the middle of the covid pandemic and after a year of cancer treatment for Monica to leave comfortable careers and open Maine Local Market. We remain passionate about Maine’s incredible local food and farming communities and proud to have created a unique “farm fresh food and beverage” market and restaurant with offerings from dozens of Maine farms, makers, and artists across the state. We are grateful to all of the farmers who made it possible and all our customers who helped us earn a “five star” food rating.
It has certainly been a tough time in the restaurant industry - and even tougher trying to maintain reasonable margins while sourcing the quality, sustainably grown, hormone and antibiotic-free local food we believe in. We have loved all of it, but cancer and other family health challenges make you understand - life is short. We realized we need more space and time for our own quality of life than this “24/7” operation requires.
So, with gratitude and humility, we have decided to close, sell Maine Local Market, and move on to new adventures.
We have several folks interested, but we are taking a bit of time to consider offers for the business as a whole and/or for equipment like shelving, lighting, POS, display cases, True refrigerators and freezers, stoves,, plates, glasses…If you are interested in the business or any of those items, please contact Monica at [email protected].
