Kefa Cafe Kefa Cafe is truly an oasis of high quality organic coffee, of peace and friendliness in the more bustling urban environment of Silver Spring.

Restaurant's History:

One of the funky, warm, cozy independent business's that is a fixture in Downtown Silver Spring. Want to go to a place with the happy vibe? The two sisters who own and work at the Kefa Cafe have been there for over 15 years now. The sisters, Lene and Abeba Tsegaye are beloved by the neighborhood and give off the aura of peace and friendliness in the hectic, bustling urban en

vironment of Downtown Silver Spring. Kefa is small or as we say in the Real Estate Business Adorable, Cute and Cozy. There are maybe 5-8 tables max. This little nook definitely has a neighborhood feel, with photos and flyers on the walls and the two much-loved sisters always behind the counter. There are cheery touches everywhere. There are no couches or Wi-Fi. The menu is on a few hanging chalkboards and is comprised of hot and iced coffees/lattes and teas, breakfast sandwiches on croissant or bagel, and lunch soups & sandwiches They also have some awesome gelato and pastry trays.

We couldn’t let International Women’s Month conclude without a shoutout to the sisters who do it all, Abeba and Lene! Our own local superstars. The two have built such an incredible space for community to blossom. People from all walks of life come in and share their stories. Through lessons and laughter the sisters, far from Ethiopia, have found family in their home away from home.

Wow! ❤️ 2016 marks 10 years since the reopening of our original location. We were closed for 10 months, due to smoke damage from a fire. We mention this quite often, because we truly believe it, our community keeps us strong. We have faced hardships before, yet, we’re still here. While the progress is evident, the current and on going construction has been difficult for business. We are so happy to see your lovely faces daily, weekly, or even periodically. We feel your support and for that we are eternally grateful.

To our new followers, welcome to Kefa Cafe! We are incredibly grateful to have been serving the Silver Spring community for 30 years. In that time we’ve been able to grow and we could not have done it without our customers, our family. Thanks to everyone’s unwavering support, we have expanded with not one but two additional locations both in facilities. To old and new supporters, thank you and we look forward to seeing you!
