The news is out! We are excited to add Kenny to the mural a week from today!

Sunny’s Pizzeria announced that civic leader Kenny Anderson Sr. will be added to the ‘Sioux Falls Wall of Notability’ mural.

We are excited to announce this year's addition to the Sioux Falls Wall of Notability mural on the north side of our building:

KENNY ANDERSON SR.!
Civic leader Kenny Anderson is best remembered for breaking racial barriers as he became the first African American elected to the Sioux Falls City Commission in 1988. Anderson grew up in the North End of Sioux Falls, owned and operated a successful dry cleaning business and was a great athlete, eventually being inducted into the South Dakota Fast Pitch Softball Hall of Fame. He was well-known for his generosity and positive attitude and the sports complex at Washington High School bears his namesake. He celebrated diversity in our great city but never let it define him or his impact, as he would always tell people: "I’m not black, I’m not green..I’m Sioux Falls."

Mural artist Wyatt Dickson will be adding Kenny to the mural live in person at Bazaart: The Local Art Show next Saturday, July 18th from 11am to 5pm!

THROWBACK THURSDAY to 2021:

When we came up with the idea of having a contest to give an aspiring muralist the chance to turn their concept into a reality on our north wall...and then we had a party to celebrate!

Wyatt Dickson has done an amazing job with The Sioux Falls Wall of Notability the past 5 years and he'll get to add someone new next Saturday at Bazaart!

Who will it be? We'll announce that tomorrow!!!

I still think Sunny would have made a good President...but apparently the government doesn't recognize "dog years" in their eligibility requirements. Rats!

Maybe Bruce will give it a run when he gets older...

You guys: IT'S OFFICIALLY BAZAART MONTH!!!

Come check out our 5th annual art market curated and managed by Prints & Repeat on Saturday, July 18th from 11am-5pm!

In honor of Bazaart, I figured I'd share this comic I made but never posted because we got rid of Waffles as a topping at Sunny's before I could share this...BUT, the sentiment remains the same!

In case you've been living under a rock, Sunny's is not a "That Doesn't BELONG On Pizza" kind of place. In fact, pushing the boundaries of what unique toppings and combinations can exist on pizza is like...our whole friggin' thing, man.

Pretentiousness and bland Midwestern palates be damned! Pizza should be FUN not uppety and inclusive not exclusive - we leave that to the chefs and insufferably self-indulgent food critics that are more concerned with 'what is "right" by their little rules' than creating something different and putting a unique spin on a classic dish.

Pizza can be art. It can be expressive, it can be unique, and it's validity is not determined by some snooty ding-dong's opinion of what is and isn't appropriate. Many of these folks knock it before they try it and that's pretty lame, if you ask me.

And for those of you that are wondering if this comic is some kind of double entendre with a second meaning...YEAH, DUH! I originally made this to drive home the message that all toppings belong at Sunny's and so do ALL PEOPLE because that's part of being a neighborhood spot: inviting neighbors from all walks of life to share food under one roof...and that message will NEVER change.

Kindness is cooler than ever in 2026. We're excited to host another Bazaart art market this month and I'm personally thrilled to see what unique and fun and creative items the vendors have come up with this year!
