The Creamery will be closed this Sunday May 3rd for a very special celebration.
The start of 2026 has been one of the most difficult for our farm and family.
As many of you already know we lost our business page from the beginning of our Ice cream journey 14 years ago. All the memories. The photos. The friendships made. Although social media can be a major waste of time, for a small business it's an amazing source for advertising. Plus, everyone loves seeing baby cows! We cannot thank everyone enough for helping us start over with sharing our new page!
We lost our best seller.... For over 14 years, Granny's Crumb was our most coveted flavor. By a landslide! Supply issues have been more common over the past few years and 2026 might take the cake. We discovered our flavoring ingredient was no longer available while sitting with Dave at Hershey Medical Center. Any other flavor, just not Granny's! In the words of Dave "It could be worse." Granny's has been officially retired(Keep reading for a very special flavor update!)
March 12, 2026. We lost our founder. We lost our farmer. We lost our friend. We lost our dad. David Lewis Herbst was a loving husband and father. A farmer transformed to milk processor and Ice cream maker. The true definition of smile creator! He sparked a fire in Jeni(our crazy cow lady) to love and to care for her animals as if they were her own kids. He created a passion in Andrew to work on equipment and create our amazing dairy products. Always pushing the next generation of our Farm and Creamery to do great things. His love and sacrifice for our family farm to carry on will forever live in our hearts. God blessed our family with this land to take care of and these animals to love. "Well done good and faithful servant." You taught us well, rest easy.❤️
This one's for Dave! "Pap's Crumb" his legacy flavor. Out of all David's accomplishments he said he was most proud of his kids and grandkids and the name "Pap". His flavor will also be featured as a staple sundae, "Dave's way"!
The "Dave's Way Sundae: Pap's Crumb, a double drizzle of warm caramel, topped with homemade whipped cream.
As we host a celebration of life for Dave this coming Sunday, the shop will be CLOSED for our family to enjoy fellowship with everyone who had the privilege to know him. If you have a special memory or photo with him please stop by from 1-4pm. We would love to hear all the memories you had with him.
