Foster Care: One Dog’s Story of Change uses a dog’s journey to help explain foster care in a way younger kids can understand. Following a dog through change, uncertainty, and eventually feeling safe makes the topic feel a little less overwhelming and a lot more approachable.

What makes this book helpful is how gentle it is. It introduces the idea that transitions can be scary, but also that caring adults can help during hard times. For foster families, this can be a great starting point for conversations with younger children who may connect more easily through animals and storytelling than direct explanations. Simple, comforting, and easy for kids to relate to.

This month, we are honored to spotlight Ashley and Sean Worley for their dedication to fostering! The Worley family has been fostering for several years, including the last two years with our agency, and it has been such a privilege for our staff to get to know both them and the youth they welcome into their home.

Ashley and Sean truly lead with compassion. They have consistently opened their hearts and home to children with significant medical and emotional needs. Their patience, kindness, and commitment never go unnoticed.
