We always wanted to go to Japan, but what finally made it happen was purchasing tickets to Star Wars Celebration. This convention doesn’t happen every year and almost always in a different country than the last. It’s an event we’ve wanted to go to, and since it was coming to Japan, it seemed like the perfect way to fully commit to a big Japan adventure. There were so many purples filling the Makuhari Messe, where the event was being held. So it made sense to combine the wonderful flavor of ube with another classic Japanese drink, making something that looks like it came straight from the movie itself.
