This Memorial Day, we honor the courage and sacrifice of our nation's best. I'm especially reminded of the Paratroopers of Flipper 75 from the who lost their lives on May 30, 2007 in Afghanistan. Their's was the first ramp ceremony of my career. Sadly, it was far from the last.

Today thru Tuesday, Gold Star Families will receive a 30% discount, and members of the 82nd Airborne Division Association & the Special Forces Trust will see portions of their order's proceeds go right back to their organization.

In this video, Robert Herjavec talks about two things that are near and dear to me: post-military business success and purpose.

We could certainly unpack many reasons why many/most military folks do not succeed in business after the military: routine changes, organizational differences, difficulties re-integrating with the civilian world, lack of training in a new career, etc. But Robert absolutely nails the biggest reason: *purpose*. What is "the why"?

"Serving the country/something bigger than yourself" is a pretty obvious purpose for Service Members. But what is our purpose after leaving the military?!

I cannot answer that for anyone else. But I can answer it for myself: to continue to serve others so they can see the love and power of Christ. BBQ (and food service in general) is my avenue of choice to do that. Of course, I want Blue Suede BBQ to be financially successful, but not for what that success could provide me. The more successful we become, the greater our impact in the community will be--and the bigger that "community" will become.

To my fellow Service Members at there--or anyone else--if you're struggling with your purpose, give me a call or a text (910-742-0416). Let's chat. Leaving the military and finding a new purpose is tough, but it's not impossible!

The Official BBQ of Sandhills Bogeys Baseball⚾🐷

The Sandhills Bogeys have partnered with Blue Suede BBQ, designating it as the Official BBQ of the Bogeys for the 2026 season. Under the agreement, Blue Suede BBQ items will be available at Bogeys concession stands throughout the season.

On select game nights, the Blue Suede BBQ food truck will be on site at the ballpark, offering its full menu. The partnership also includes community initiatives. Blue Suede BBQ will sponsor a Salute the Troops Night, providing discounted tickets and merchandise to active-duty military members. Additionally, the Bogeys and Blue Suede BBQ will partner together to host a benefit night for the Live Like Lou Foundation, an organization dedicated to ALS research, awareness, and family support.
