A fresh concept in dining and marketplace is about to open in Southern Pines, a full-service café with a licensed kitchen where food entrepreneurs can make, market and sell their product. Thyme & Place Café will be a delightful blend of breakfast-and-lunch eatery and kitchen entrepreneurship, fulfilling a true need within our talented, agricultural and culinary community. eslie Philip, Thyme & Place Café will be a cross-section of restaurant, marketplace and communal kitchen that Leslie herself as a baking entrepreneur would have been thrilled to have access to when she and her husband moved to Moore County three years ago. After over 25 years in the food industry, upon moving to the Sandhills, Leslie began baking delicate pastries and thought that offering the opportunity to cook in a larger kitchen was a good idea for the greater good of the community. The licensed kitchen available to rent will be a pertinent addition to the successful farm-to-table movement across our region, which has a high rate of food insecure county residents. Now individuals have an uptown, stylish café where they can both make their product plus develop word-of-mouth through the marketplace and social media at Thyme & Place. Located at the intersection of a welcoming place to produce good food, and community engagement, stay tuned to Facebook for the café’s first stage, a soft opening in July to work the kinks out of the new kitchen and menu before opening full-court press in August.
