Thyme to say farewell.
After 11 years in business, Thyme & Place is hanging up its spoons, and Leslie is cracking her last egg at the end of this month. Swank will continue to carry her lovely sweets for a period. We wish her the best in her future endeavors, which will involve philanthropic work, getting back to her horses, time, and traveling with her husband, and, of course, a lot fewer trips to the grocery store. You will be missed, friend.

How long have you owned Swank, and what's your favorite part of the job?

"I've owned Swank for 13 years. The original owners were ready to start their families, and sold it to me in 2013. In 2027, we'll be celebrating 20 years in business! My favorite part of being a business owner is our customers. The sense of community in Southern Pines is very unique and special. Our customers embody the small town spirit, and keep our local shops thriving. The interactions I've had over the years with our customers are process to me."

Tell us about your favorite drink on the menu

"I actually have two favorite drinks! My favorite summertime drink is an iced peppermint mocha... So refreshing!!! I also loooooove hot toasted marshmallow mocha lattes. Neither of these are on our regular menu, but I highly recommend!"

When you're not at Swank, what are your favorite things to do?

"I'm the happiest when I'm outside. Gliding down a river in my kayak with my two doxies and my hubby is heaven to me. I love hiking and exploring. Spending time in Utah has kindled a love affair with our National Parks and wild rugged lands."

What's your favorite song?

"My favorite song is A Beautiful Day by U2!"

How long have you worked at Swank? What is your favorite part about the job?

“I’ve worked at swank since October. I love getting to talk to the people in town and experimenting with drinks :))”

Tell us about your mug: Where did you get it/why is it your favorite?

“I got my mug a few years ago at the Holly Festival in Pinehurst. I thought it was coolest thing ever bc it reminded of The Labyrinth.”

When you’re not at Swank, what are your favorite things to do?

“When I'm not at swank I love to thrift and try new art mediums. I'm trying to find something that inspires me to create. I think I'll try linocutting next.”

What is your favorite song?

“This is literally the hardest question ever! I think I'll have to go with Low Place Like Home by Sneaker Pimps as my current favorite song. My favorite song changes daily and I'm always exploring different genres.”

How long have you worked at Swank? What is your favorite part of the job?

“I’ve worked at Swank for about two years, starting behind the bar and now creating content and managing out marketing and social media pages. I love having a space where I can let my creativity flow, and I also love the community I’ve found at Swank with my coworkers and customers. And fret not! You’ll still see me around the bar occasionally (Especially during the holidays!)”

Tell us about your mug: Where did you get it/why is it your favorite?

“I actually didn’t bring my favorite mug in because I didn’t plan on having my picture taken! But Lisa lent me this lovely glass mug, and if you look closely you’ll see a little Snoopy engraved in it. Anyone who knows me knows that I adore Snoopy, so it was fitting!”

When you’re not at Swank, what are your favorite things to do?

“When I’m not at Swank, I love pursuing all art forms! Photography and content creation are my passions. You’ll find me with my camera on the Outer Banks all summer long capturing sport fishing photos. During the off-season, I enjoy painting pottery and making coffee in the shop and at home with my espresso machine.”

What is your favorite song?

“My favorite song is Who’s Your Daddy by Toby Keith. That intro gets me every time!”

How long have you worked at Swank? What is your favorite part about the job?

“I’ve been working at swank for about seven months and I’d say my favorite thing about working at Swank is making the drinks for our customers. It’s such a fun process and I love being able to make whatever drink the customer wants a reality, even if it’s something I’ve never made before.”

Tell us about your mug: Where did you get it/why is it your favorite?

“I got my favorite mug from Mockingbird on Broad- I used to work there!It’s my favorite because it’s a very accurate depiction of my day to day headspace”

When you’re not at Swank, what are your favorite things to do?

“When I’m not working I love going on long drives with my best friends for fun days out. I love to go to the beach whenever I can. When I’m in town though I love rummaging through all of Moore County’s thrift shops and checking out the local markets.”

What is your favorite song?

“My favorite song is sun bleached flies by Ethel Cain. It’s the only one I’ve found that embodies everything I’ve ever felt in life into a single song.”
