Just so everyone knows, a different BBQ joint is going into the location that I used to occupy near Crow Peak Brewing Company. Bunky’s is in no way affiliated with Pit14 BBQ. The future of Bunkys is still uncertain but I may go back to catering some events in the summer or possibly even a mobile situation. But for now I am teaching high school students biology. I just wanted to clear up any potential confusion about Bunkys BBQ. Im currently still retired from smoking meat and have no immediateplans to reopen. I do wish Crow Peak Brewing and the new BBQ joint success!

Smoke is rolling at the veterans archery antelope hunt. All hunters have filled their tags and are enjoying a few days of sharp tail grouse hunting. Today is their final day here and I try to send them off right. Brisket, pulled pork, ribs, chicken, smoked beans, mac&cheese and coleslaw is on the menu today for our nations hero’s! Thank you so much to everyone who donated to this years feed, I appreciate it more than I can say.

I’ve reached my needs for buying product for the veterans hunt. Thank you to everyone who donated, I truly appreciate it and so do my fellow veterans that attend this event! I’ll post some pictures after the event which is next weekend.

It’s that time of year again! Please message me if you’re interesting in donating to help fund this event. I don’t take a dime, only cover this cost of the food/wood needed to feed these hero’s. It’s a great cause and as a veteran myself, it’s near and dear to my heart. I was too busy cooking to take pictures but momma took a few, I’ll post some more when I get some from the other people that were there. Huge thanks to everyone who donated!! The veterans, guides, landowners and Game, Fish & Parks people are so appreciative. Another feel good experience for this guy!

Thanks to everyone who donated, it’s greatly appreciated!!! those of you that didn’t get a chance to donate this year… there’s always next year as I’ll continue to do this for those well deserving hero’s as long as I’m able!

To all of you that responded to my request for donations to offset cost of the wounded warriors in action dinner THANK YOU!! I’ve been overwhelmed by the support. I will reach out to you all shortly as I’m still figuring cost of materials. I can tell you that I won’t be able to use a fraction of the offered donations which is incredible! My hopes are any folks whom I don’t call upon this year will keep it in your hearts to step up next year or the year after. This is such a worthy cause and I intend to continue doing it until I physically can’t! Again thanks and I’ll be in contact with some of you, if I don’t contact you I’m still incredibly greatful for your generosity!!

Hello, I hope all of my past customers had a good summer! I am going to be cooking for the wounded warriors in action/South Dakota Game, Fish & Parks partnership on September 22. This program is incredible! it pairs G,F&P employees with wounded warriors to do a fully guided archery antelope. The G,F&P has partnered with several local landowners to provide this cost free experience to those hero’s! I donated the food and my time last year but this year things are different and my wallet is a bit lighter than last year after 3 months off for shoulder surgery. That brings me to my point. I’m looking for donations to purchase the food for this event. I will haul my smoker out and cook and serve these fine folks free of charge but it would be great to offset the cost of the groceries! If you’re interested in donating some money towards this worthy event please message me. Thanks! UPDATE.. due to an overwhelming response to this message please allow me to get back with each of you that leave a message. I’ll sort out the cost this weekend and I’ll respond to you all as I get through it. I’m genuinely humbled at the outpouring of support for this worthwhile cause THANK YOU!!!

Bunkys closed its doors today after nearly 9 years. I am undergoing shoulder surgery next week and that makes 4 surgeries in 6 years. I can’t physically keep it up any longer. I plan on doing some catering and some special events in the future but I have to step away from doing it full time. I want to thank everyone whom supported my business and made it a success. I could not have done it without my right hand man Steve “Stretch” Myran. Thanks for your dedication and hard work brother. See y’all on down the road maybe.
