I spoke to people getting food at a food bank and here are some things I learned from those in need:

1. Everyone donates Kraft Mac and Cheese in the box. They can rarely use it because it needs milk and butter which is hard to get from regular food banks.

2. Boxed milk is a treasure, as kids need it for cereal which they also get a lot of.

3. Everyone donates pasta sauce and spaghetti noodles.

4. They cannot eat all the awesome canned veggies and soup unless you put a can opener in too or buy pop tops.

5. Oil is a luxury but needed for Rice a-Roni which they also get a lot of.

6. Spices or salt and pepper would be a real Christmas gift.

7. Tea bags and coffee make them feel like you care.

8. Sugar and flour are treats.

9. They fawn over fresh produce donated by farmers and grocery stores.

10. Seeds are cool in Spring and Summer because growing can be easy for some.

11. They rarely get fresh meat.

12. Tuna and crackers make a good lunch.

13. Hamburger Helper goes nowhere without ground beef.

14. They get lots of peanut butter and jelly but usually not sandwich bread.

15. Butter or margarine is nice too.

16. Eggs are a real commodity.

**please check with your local food bank because many only accept “non-perishable” items, meaning no dairy/eggs/meat**

17. Cake mix and frosting makes it possible to make a child’s birthday cake.

18. Dishwashing detergent is very expensive and is always appreciated.

19. Feminine hygiene products are a luxury, yet so important.

20. Everyone loves Stove Top Stuffing.

In all the years I have donated food at the Holidays, I bought what I thought they wanted, but have never asked. I am glad I did. If you are helping a Family this Christmas, maybe this can help you tailor it more.

Great input from Tricia Anne Meyerd

**Check with your local food pantry—every facility is different, so the wants and needs can vary**

We finished at 2:00 pm today. Thank you to so many people that came by and said hi. It really was so kind of you to do that. I got everything but I forgot one of my temperature gauges so hopefully I can get that soon!
Thanks again for a FANTASTIC year. We appreciate how many customers came back so often. We had some customers that started last May that still came once or twice a week. We had a lot of regulars in the short period we were in Springfield and that really made us feel appreciated. You guys have a great summer and we will see you in Marshfield when it reopens!

Saturday is our last day we will be open. All we have after some package snacks and some drinks. Stop by and say hi if you're in the area. We will announce when we reopen in Marshfield. We have some remodeling to do first.
Thank you for all the support the past year! We had 10,000 customers come to our library location. Many travels stopped byand loved our popup location. We can't believe how much products and food that we sold. Our meal plans are currently on hold too so you won't be able to pick those up at The Springfield Library anymore.
Here are a few reviews we got. We really appreciate them all!

Thank you for so many people coming by today. We sold out of so much stuff. All we have are some snacks and some sodas left. Will be in there off and on the next few days working on cleaning everything up and packing up equipment, so we no longer will have a regular hours. If we have the doors open you can come in and buy a drink and say hi to us. Thanks again for all your support. It's hard to believe how many people came by and gave hugs today!

Just wanted to say that our pop up at The Library Center is coming to an end this week. Your support means a lot to us as we were able donate back to the community on a fairly regular basis.
We had right around 9,000 customers at our Springfield location this past year. February being one of our busiest months!
Just in April alone we were able to donate to five non-profit organizations including Safe and Sober, Eden Haven cats sanctuary and Zuzu's house.
Please follow us on our Marshfield page Polymath Educational Café LLC
We're going to do some remodeling but then we'll start up again.
Thank you again for your support this past year. We will miss everyone.
