🌮 LET’S TALK TAMALES, THANKSGIVING, & ALGORITHMS! 😂👇

Y’all, we’ve had A TON of questions about where the tamales are on our Thanksgiving preorder list, so let’s clear a few things up!

NO, WE ARE NOT TAKING TAMALE PREORDERS… UNLESS YOU’RE ORDERING 6 DOZEN OR MORE of each kind FOR A PARTY OR LARGE GATHERING. ❤️

Now, before anybody panics, that DOES NOT mean we aren’t making tamales! We absolutely ARE! 🙌

Here’s the deal. In years past, I’ve taken preorders and then spent DAYS literally killing myself making tamales to fill every single order. And y’all, I just can’t keep doing that to myself anymore. 🤦‍♀️😂 I love y’all, but this girl has to learn her limits at some point!

So here’s the plan for this year: I’m going to make as many tamales as I possibly can, and when they’re ready, we’ll post how many dozen we have available. Once they’re gone, they’re gone! So keep your eyes peeled! 👀🌮

And speaking of keeping your eyes peeled…

If you’re one of those people who says, “I NEVER see your posts anymore!” let me help you out! 😉 FB makes this harder than it needs to be, but here’s what you can do:

☝️ 1. MAKE SURE YOU’RE FOLLOWING OUR PAGE! Sounds obvious, but double-check it!

🔔 2. TURN ON POST NOTIFICATIONS! This can help you catch our updates when we share them.

💬 3. ENGAGE WITH OUR POSTS! THIS IS THE BIG ONE! Like, comment, share, and interact with the things you enjoy seeing from us. Facebook uses engagement to help decide what shows up in your feed. The more you interact with our page, the better your chances of seeing our posts regularly!

We post about specials, soups, take-and-bakes, desserts, drinks, and all kinds of goodies, so if you want to know what’s happening at Alvin Ord’s, help Facebook understand that you actually WANT to see us! 😂❤️

📣 NOW, ON TO TODAY’S DELICIOUSNESS!

It’s THURSDAY, which means it’s CHEESE SALVATION DAY! 🧀🥪

And because we love y’all, we also made BROCCOLI CHEDDAR SOUP today! 🥦🧀🍲

Sorry this post is running a little late! Hopefully, you haven’t eaten lunch yet because we might have just solved that problem for you! 🤣

Come see us at Alvin Ord’s Sandwich Shop in Springtown! We’ll be waiting for ya! ❤️

You guys… THIS IS GETTING A BIT RIDICULOUS! 😳🤦‍♀️

My amazing husband did a grocery run for me on Monday, and I had him pick up TWO boxes of green leaf lettuce for the shop. They were out of several items, so I had to make another trip today. I figured since we were already down one box, I might as well grab another while I was there.

Y’ALL. I looked at the price and nearly fell over. $80 FOR 24 SMALL HEADS OF GREEN LEAF LETTUCE! 🥬💸😳

Of course, I had to go back and check Monday’s receipt because surely I was losing my mind. Monday’s order was $68 for those same two boxes. Which is STILL crazy expensive, but at least it was better than $80!

You know how they always say buying in bulk saves you money? Well, apparently, somebody forgot to tell the lettuce people! 🤦‍♀️😂

At our local Brookshire’s, a single head of green leaf lettuce is $2.49. Meanwhile, the “bulk savings” on a case of 24 small heads would have me paying $80 today!

For reference, the “normal” regular price for a case of green leaf lettuce is usually around $30. Let that sink in for a minute. We’re talking about a jump from around $30 to $68 on Monday and now $80 today. WHAT?! 😳

I understand prices fluctuate, but COME ON! We’re a small, family-owned business trying to keep our food fresh, our quality high, and our prices reasonable for our customers. Every time we turn around, something else has gone through the roof.

And before anyone says, “Just raise your prices,” remember that our customers are feeling these same price increases at home. We’re trying to keep things affordable for YOU while still keeping the doors open over here. ❤️

Running a small business these days is NOT for the faint of heart, y’all! Between food costs, labor, and everything else, sometimes you just have to laugh so you don’t cry. 😂😭

PLEASE TELL ME I’M NOT THE ONLY ONE SEEING THESE CRAZY PRICE JUMPS! And if any other restaurant owners are buying green leaf lettuce by the case, I NEED TO KNOW WHAT YOU’RE PAYING! 👇🥬
