Ever since we launched coffee in September, the number one thing we hear over and over is, “This espresso is so good! Where do you get your beans!?”

We smile and say Rosemary!

Rosemary roasts their beans in house daily, so when you’re getting a Cake House Coffee, you’re getting the freshest roast possible!

Every October when bosses day passes, I’m always little more grateful than before..

When I opened Cake House 10 years ago, I knew I wanted to make beautiful cakes, create something of my own, and bring a little happiness into the world through sweets.

One thing that I never thought about was becoming someone’s boss one day.

I don’t think I fully understood back then the responsibility that would come with building a business that other people would eventually depend on.

Somewhere along the way, my dream became a place where other people could chase theirs, too.
A place where people earn a living, support their families, pay their bills, make memories, take vacations, learn new skills, build friendships, and hopefully grow into better versions of themselves.

And that is something I will never take lightly.

Being a small business owner is so much more than being the person in charge. It’s making hard decisions, having uncomfortable conversations, leading by example, holding people accountable, celebrating their wins, and putting their needs before your own.
It’s knowing that the decisions you make don’t just affect you. They affect the people who have trusted you with a piece of their livelihood.
And while I certainly haven’t gotten everything right over the years, I hope I’ve continued to grow just as much as the people I’ve had the privilege of leading.

To my team, past and present, thank you. Thank you for trusting me, challenging me, growing with me, and helping turn a little dream of mine into something so much bigger than I ever imagined.

I think to myself often, you can’t be a boss without people who believe in what you’re building.

If you’re a small business owner reading this, I hope you take a moment to recognize what you’ve created. Not just the products you sell or the services you provide, but the opportunities you’ve made possible for the people around you.
What an incredible privilege and honor it is to build something that allows others to build a life of their own.

I may have started Cake House because I loved cake, but the people have become one of the greatest parts of it all.
And for that, I’m forever grateful. ❤️
