St Charles County Pet Adoption Center holds a very special place in my heart. Nearly every senior dog I've adopted since 2019 has come from their shelter, and I can honestly say my life is better because of it. You've seen the bus, right ? π₯°
Tomorrow evening, they're hosting a special event for anyone interested in learning more about fostering. Right now, the shelter population is growing faster than pets are being adopted, and foster families are needed more than ever.
Many people don't realize that when you foster, the shelter provides support and supplies, including food, medical care, bedding, toys, collars, leashes, and more.
So what do foster families provide?
β€οΈ 1. TLC
Love, patience, and kindness help heal hearts that may have experienced loss, fear, or uncertainty.
π‘ 2. Safety
Feeling safe and secure is the foundation of rebuilding trust. Just like people, animals need a place where they can finally exhale.
π 3. Family
Whether you're single, a couple, or have children, being part of a family environment helps pets learn what normal life feels like again. I'm also going to include couch cuddles, movie nights, and lazy Sunday naps in this category.
π 4. Learning
Foster homes teach important life skills: trust, manners, playtime, routines, sleeping in a cozy bed, hearing "good boy" or "good girl," and of course earning a reward biscuit or two. (Let's be honestβwho doesn't love a tasty treat for a job well done?)
The truth is, that's really all you need to bring to the table. The shelter works hard to match fosters with pets that fit their lifestyle. Whether you're looking for a couch potato, a walking buddy, an adventure partner, or something in between, there's likely a dog or cat waiting to meet you.
And one more thing...
π Barkuterie Shop will be there! π
We'll be serving up treats and introducing a brand-new cold treat for pups. Trust meβyou don't want your dog hearing about it through the neighborhood gossip network. π
Bring your questions, bring your family, and most importantly, bring your dog by to say hello.
Who knows? You might just change a life. β€οΈπΎ
