Sgt. Pepperoni Uconn

Sgt. Pepperoni Uconn Sgt. Pepperoni, slingin' the best pizza around UConn for over 20 years! Pepperoni has been the go to pizza destination at UConn for over 20 years.

Owned and operated by UConn students and alumni, we do what we can to give back to the community that supports us. We take pride in our food, preparing everything to order using only the best ingredients. Our pride is our pizza and calzones, both made from dough mixed daily, stretched thin by hand per your order (none of that pre made frozen junk at Peps). We make our own sauce, fresh cut our own

veggies by hand, and use the best cheeses and toppings available to provide the best product we can. Open late, seven days a week, Sgt. Pepperoni is available to bring you a quick snack while you are studying at midnight for finals, or if you need a stack of pizzas for your next club meeting. Give us a ring, and we will absolutely hook you up!

So, we had been telling people that we would have shirts available for people who wanted them after we closed.

It took us a while, but we figured out how to do it. And I think we did it right. We got some samples and everything turned out really good.

And here it is. We got the bear shirts that sold out in store in no time at all. We made some with the new m**h bear. Even did a bit of digging in the archives and dug up some old logos for a more retro vibe. And finally after promising them for YEARS, the Sgt Hoodie has returned. Tons of colors, tons of sizes, shipped to your door.

Do you find yourself gainfully unemployed? Want to change that?
Well, fortunately for you, Sgt. Pepperoni is hiring!

First off, you are probably wondering what you are getting yourself into by applying here.
Well, in general people seem to like us. It gets kinda weird in here but if that is your vibe, apply away. We got TV and movies and music and screaming drunk people from the bar. All of the comforts of home.
We get into philosophical debates about life the universe and everything, and the finer points of Garfield Erotica. Sometimes we even make a pizza or two.

But of course a job isn't just about the bizarre people you might be working with, what does the actual job itself entail? Well, if you are familiar with Sgt Peps at all, you know it gets pretty busy. Like, a lot busy. At times you might even say 10/10 busy. Phones are ringin' music is bumpin' sometimes the oven catches on fire a little bit. Sometimes the delivery drivers accidentally put orders too close to the heating elements and those catch on fire a little bit. But it is a kitchen, you always expect at least a little bit of fire.

What I am trying to get at here is it can be a very hectic and stressful environment. If this sounds like som**hing you would have an issue with, be forewarned. When s**t hits the fan, it usually does so with a vengeance. At the same time, there is a good amount of slower periods as well where you get to chill out, watch some movies, form bonds with your coworkers, etc. Hell, we even feed you while you work. You might even get a chance to try one of our experiments, like the infamous beannzza. Or maybe even a Garfield Meltdown.

The other big thing is the hours. We are a haven for the nightowls of the world. Have a tough time waking up before noon? Awesome. We are probably your people. Shifts run until close, so 2 am weekdays and 3 am weekends, plus an hour or so for cleanup afterwards. Also, we do require at least one weekend shift per week out of our employees since that is our busiest time (but you don't need to work the entire weekend if you don't want to - we know you probably want to go out and do your own thing). These shifts can be very long as well so be ready to be on your feet for very long periods of time.

As a driver, you need a car. And it has to be a street legal, registered and insured, functional vehicle. Reliable is nice. We don't wanna be running around at 1 am trying to rebuild your motor in the dark because you haven't changed your oil since 2007. You also need a working phone (which these days, who doesn't, but still need to ask). During down time when there aren't deliveries you get to do the dishes and maybe even help with prep if we decide we can trust you with knives. It is always a plus if you know the dorms/surrounding area but it is absolutely not a requirement. You pick that stuff up mighty quick.

Inside people all start on the phones. It can get intense back there, between multiple lines ringing, tablets spitting out online orders, all while trying to decipher what the drunk guy on the phone is trying to order. After we feel you have a good handle on the phones, we can start teaching you prep, how to run the grill, etc. Once again, experience in a restaurant environment is a plus, but not required. We will train you.

SO if survived this massive wall of text and this still sounds alright to you, feel free to apply! It is as easy as heading over to sgtpeps.com clicking the now hiring link up top, and filling out whatever stuff we ask you on there.

Got any questions? Feel free to ask here. With a bit of luck, I should be able to get the notification and answer in a somewhat timely fashion.

Are you looking for a semester job? Got a car? Know your way around a ball of dough?
Do you need a good excuse for sleeping until noon every day?

Well, if any of the above apply to you, Sgt. Pepperoni wants YOU to apply. We need drivers. We need inside people. We need more employees because the semester is starting much sooner than we all thought and it's gunna get busy soon.

"But what is it like working at Sgt. Peps?" Well, it's not for everyone. It can get pretty stressful and you will be up late (shifts go till close, 2 or 3 am). But we also feed you, pay you, and try to entertain you.

Yeah, that's right, we pay you.

None of that "minimum tip wage" or "$4 an hour under the table" bulls**t. Employee meals are actual meals, not those leftover french fries from 6 hours ago that one dude never picked up (although you can have those too). And we got movies and Youtube and frisbees and swords and spaceships and orcs. Plus there's always bickering between other staff members to enjoy.

Delivery drivers need a car, a functional one, with insurance, registration, and a license. Knowledge of campus and the surrounding apartments surely helps but is in no way a requirement. We find most people have a solid idea of where things are after a few shifts, and if not we have maps.

Inside workers just need a reliable way to get to work. Kitchen experience absolutely is a plus, but not a requirement. Everyone starts working just the phones, but after that you can learn prep, the grill, and eventually how to make pizza.

Finally, everyone's favorite elephant in the room, Covid. Sorry to say but we take it seriously. You need to be commited to wearing a mask and fully vaccinated to apply. We don't care about your theories on the virus or your 'expertise' on infectious disease. I don't wanna get sick. The staff doesn't wanna get sick. So we are going to do whatever we can to prevent that. The end.

We get it. Everything kind of sucks right now but we are just trying to make everything better with pizza. If this doesn't sound too insane to you, feel free to apply. Swing by the store any time we are open, or fill out an app online at www.sgtpeps.com.
See you soon!
