Need help? Here are some events/places that are distributing supplies or services to help those affected by the recent tornado.
Grace Community Church and Central Church of Christ along with Convoy of Hope will distribute clean-up supplies (tarps, totes, garbage cans, and more) and water from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at 2001 E. Main St. Enter the church parking lot from the east drive and follow the signs to the back of the property for the pick-up point.
St. Vincent de Paul has disaster relief funds available as well as furniture. They also can provide rides. Call 815-672-3687.
Streator Elks 591, 202 N. Park St., created a relief center for those in need of supplies. Distribution is set to 7 p.m. Friday and noon to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The distribution center is located on the second floor of the lodge. Call 815-672-2717 for more info.
North Central Behavioral Health Systems will be at the Elk’s Club in Streator for the purpose of providing emotional support and resources to those impacted by the tornado.
411 Oakley Ave., essential supplies are available for those in need
Frank's Pet Shop, Northpoint Plaza, is willing to donate dog/cat food to anyone affected by the tornado and in need of those supplies.
Heritage Tractor, 29987 N. 300th Road, is offering free chainsaw sharpening, generators at cost and taking non-perishable food items to help with tornado relief.
Tri-County Opportunities Council has disaster funding to meet basic needs for those impacted by the tornado. Staff will schedule a 1:1 appointment with households to provide information regarding the process, determine immediate needs and proceed with assistance. Households can reach out to staff at: 815-673-3222 (primary) or 779-206-7120 (secondary) to schedule an appointment. Staff will be located beginning 8 a.m. Monday, June 15, in Streator.
Free Community Lunch at Dabarkadz Grocery, Westgate Plaza, at 11 a.m. until food is gone. All first responders and people affected by tornado are invited to lunch.
ComEd will be distributing disaster kits Saturday near the Elks Club.
Pitte Storage Facility LLC. , is offering 1 free month of storage to those affected by the tornado. Call 815-992-2560.
Small Town Services, Blackstone, is donating machines, saws and able bodies to help with clean up. Call 815-822-8803.
3:16 Restored LLC is offering free chainsaw sharpening services to people cleaning up. Call 815-257-1361.
Zoila's Coffee Roastery, 601 E. Main St., will have free coffee and water for anyone affected, or for volunteers/responders
Streator First Assembly of God, 1902 Church St., hot dog dinner at 6 p.m. Sunday, June 14, for those affected by the tornado or anyone in the community. The church also has a sharing room with clothing for those in need.
