An important message from our proprietor:

I’d like to make a statement of solidarity regarding Funk ’n Waffles' position in support of racial equality. Our restaurant is founded on Funk music: an expression of Black culture that has a long history of standing against oppression. When we opened our first location on the SU hill, every mural, every album on the wall depicted Black musicians, and we’ve been honoring their cultural impact ever since.

Syracuse, New York was once an important stop on the Underground Railroad. We pledge to continue that tradition by sharing the beauty and brilliance of Black culture thru our food and music. We will always take pride that our business relies upon the countless contributions of those who have protested for freedom. Whether it's Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Sharon Jones or Fela Kuti playing on the speakers, Funk music's power of bringing people together is what inspires us as a business.
