In honor of Filipino Heritage month, we would like introduce owner Leilani, and employee Karmina. 🇵🇭

When asked what their Filipino heritage means to them, this is what they said.

LEILANI 🇵🇭
The Filipino culture has a strong sense of togetherness. We also have delicious food, it goes well beyond lumpia and pancit. We don’t know how to cook a small meal….we cook for an army! 😁 And you can’t have enough ube!
I am 2nd generation, and I love how the next 2 generations have so much interest in where our family is from. And how much they want to keep our culture alive with their own families.
My Ilocano and Tagalog vocabulary is pretty limited, but I love learning alongside my grandkids!
I’m very proud of my heritage and it’s surreal hearing stories from my parent’s generation, of how our families came to the United States.

Karmina 🇵🇭
Being Filipino is something I am very proud of!
In our culture, cooking or making something for others is our love language.
We also have a deep family bond, so we always make time to visit loved ones or to send pasalubong (souvenirs) to family overseas!
Growing up, I wasn’t as educated in Tagalog as the rest of my family but the culture still runs deep.
My favorite dish is definitely between my mom’s Sinigang or her Leche Flan as a dessert!
As a child, I would watch TFC with my family a lot and Wowowee was one of my favorite shows!
My Lola (grandma) was featured in a newspaper when she gained US citizenship in the 80s as a first generation immigrant!
I am so proud and so grateful for the opportunities I have in life, all thanks to my amazing family!
