🥃⚔️ WHISKEY WEDNESDAY: A SPIRIT OF REBELLION ⚔️🥃

Did you know? In 1791, the U.S. government imposed a tax on whiskey to help pay off debts from the Revolutionary War. The move sparked what became known as the Whiskey Rebellion, as farmers and distillers in western Pennsylvania protested the tax.

When President George Washington called in the militia to enforce the law, many distillers packed up and headed south to Kentucky and Tennessee, where corn was abundant and government oversight was harder to find. Those regions would eventually become home to some of the world's most famous whiskey traditions.
