Yesterday, I discussed the cantaloupes ripening in time before they burst from too much rain.
This watermelon was not as fortunate.
This is what makes gardening hard, we can’t control the weather.
Some people assume rain is always good for the garden but in fact, too much rain is rarely a good thing for developing fruits.
They can’t handle the influx of water and send too much to the fruit too quickly which causes the rind to literally burst open.
This watermelon will go to the goats, but it’s a painful reminder that we are always at the mercy of the weather.
Praying for all those currently being affected by floods in Central Texas. Grateful our only damage is some burst melons and muddy eggs.
