This post shares where Horizon Buns is at on a more personal level and our plans for the future.
I thank everyone who has become loyal to our food, helped us grow, and shared our flavors with their friends and family! It's a source of pride for us that our quality standards, attitude, and hard work have made someone's day, every day, one meal at a time.
But as we take on more orders each day, it becomes harder to keep up with it as just one person. The increased demands, before and after our operating hours, has shown that some adjustments need to be made for my well-being and for the health of my relationship.
These changes will occur on October 6th:
a) Opening at 12pm (noon) each day instead of 11am to allow me more time for prep and to have a breakfast with my partner.
b) Double-orders (two in a row from one customer) can now only have 4 sandwiches total. Juggling >4 sandwiches with limited space degrades quality; I can't bear giving out a sandwich that isn't sizzling, crispy, and well-put together even if someone condones it.
c) Oat will be our only ice cream base.
d) Inflation has increased the price of too many of our ingredients. Each sandwich and milkshake will increase in price by .50-$1.00 so that my family's livelihood can remain stable. Our shakes increased from 12oz to 14oz, and we'll soon display nutritional content (and weight?) on sandwiches as another way to show value, so we think the prices will remain fair and competitive.
e) Through October, we'll be removing any item that isn't bringing in customers. Show your love for what you want to stick around and get excited for new menu items!
f) A new Instagram album will feature actual customer's meals, pictures taken by us, to show that the menu pictures look the same as what you'll get--and customers with modified sandwiches might inspire others to get the same!
With such growth begs the question: What about a storefront? In this economy, we're more than weary about the idea. We'd prefer crowdfunding to get started, but first want to introduce an irresistable salad, multiple sides, and fun desserts before taking on that endeavor.
